Seems like we're having many of the same conversations about Richard as we were having about Mark Wright last year, who many people here repeatedly dismissed as a contender.
Richard may not be the most likeable bloke but for sure this isn't being helped by the way he is being edited - he's clearly being painted to be the big bad on the boys' side, in contrast to Joseph's slick salesman and David's puppy-dog enthusiasm.
Is he the best candidate? Maybe not. But he's done a lot more to contribute to tasks (5 wins out of 5, too) than the vast majority of his fellow candidates. And, while he does like to talk himself up, he is at least willing to put himself forward for everything rather than hide in the background and he does recognise the contribution of his teammates, as he did with Mergim in the boardroom.
By contrast, I know Charleine is a favourite with many, but her treatment of Richard in this task - with which she seemed very pleased with herself - was disgraceful. The way she marginalised Richard was obvious and lacking in basic courtesy, and it will have been noted and marked down for future reference not just by Richard but by other team members too.
Richard may be a bit bombastic, but I'd much rather work with him than with Charleine.
