Richard - the most unlikeable candidate ever?

I find Charleine more unlikeable to be honest.

The whole "Can I speak to David?" routine was pathetic, as well as her "And what writing qualifications do you have?" to April was nasty and dismissive. It was too perfect hearing April say she did in fact have a degree in creative writing.

Are you thinking of Scott? Even he was better than Charlene to be honest.

No Richard's shampoo pitch was very learned off and wasn't natural at all.

I'm amazed April hasn't been doing presentations given her pageant past, public speaking should be something she should be comfortable doing given she's a former Miss Jamaica.

Oh god, I had totally forgot all about that!! I'm really not a big fan of April, but she earnt her place in this series solely for that comeback alone, perfect put down to that kind of condescending tone.

Richard is smug but he has plenty to be smug about. He's good in the tasks. He can sell. He can lead a team effortlessly and get his way while making everybody feel they've been listened to. His pitch might not have been great but we haven't seen anyone pitch really well yet. His weakest moment was the cheese buying but that was a minor embarrassment.

Charliene was incredibly lucky to offload all the remaining stock the way she did. Had that not happened she would have been deservedly in the firing line. If anyone is unlikeable it's her.”

Totally agree. Richard has a bit of an ego but he's rather competent.

He's not even close to most unlikable this series, let alone ever. Compared to Charlene and Selina, he's a positive sweetheart

I was at her behaviour. I hate to say it but she treated Richard like he was a stroppy Saturday girl in her salon. She's in way over her head here imo. I liked the way the sub team laughed it off the first couple of times, he handled it well during the task but I get the impression he doesn't see her as serious competition. She was right not to trust him but why be so cringingly blunt about it?

Seems like we're having many of the same conversations about Richard as we were having about Mark Wright last year, who many people here repeatedly dismissed as a contender.

Richard may not be the most likeable bloke but for sure this isn't being helped by the way he is being edited - he's clearly being painted to be the big bad on the boys' side, in contrast to Joseph's slick salesman and David's puppy-dog enthusiasm.

Is he the best candidate? Maybe not. But he's done a lot more to contribute to tasks (5 wins out of 5, too) than the vast majority of his fellow candidates. And, while he does like to talk himself up, he is at least willing to put himself forward for everything rather than hide in the background and he does recognise the contribution of his teammates, as he did with Mergim in the boardroom.

By contrast, I know Charleine is a favourite with many, but her treatment of Richard in this task - with which she seemed very pleased with herself - was disgraceful. The way she marginalised Richard was obvious and lacking in basic courtesy, and it will have been noted and marked down for future reference not just by Richard but by other team members too.

Richard may be a bit bombastic, but I'd much rather work with him than with Charleine.

Yes, absolutely. She thought she was being so clever but everyone saw through it and it displayed a complete lack of integrity. Richard may be self-centred but he's much better at managing teams, despite his unfortunate comment at the beginning of the task.

Hmm. I'd rather have an over-rehearsed but competent pitch to the kind of 'natural' inarticulate garbage that Charleine spouted in her pitch.

And, as Scott demonstrated a couple of weeks ago, thinking you can just wing a pitch with your natural ability is a dangerous thing ...

I have mixed feelings about Richard at this stage. He's a very credible candidate, but I've found him to be a little patronising and I think it's difficult to root for him. I certainly don't think he's the most unlikeable candidate this year - that's definitely Selina for me.

I can almost understand Charleine's actions on the task. As PM, he nailed the task that she desperately wanted to project-manage - also a creative product design task. She wanted victory and she didn't want any suggestion that the victory owed more to his input than hers. She could have achieved this differently though. As one of the panelists on You're Fired said, her initial idea of a moral tale around the theme of leaving comfort zones, I think, was much stronger and she should have sold that passionately to her team. Although she's not coming across in the best light at the moment, I do like her as a candidate and I hope she does well.

Loved the smug look in the boardroom last night.

Why isn't Charleine being called the worst for insisting she pitches when she can't and saying things rhyme when they don't.

Most unlikeable ever?

I won't put him in the top ten to be honest

I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Charleine. I think she has good qualities but she takes far too much far too personally when she doesn't get her way or when she feels threatened. Last night's ep was a case in point.

Richard is no doubt an extremely confident person but he's also definitely being given the pantomime villain edit to emphasise this part of his character.

As I've said elsewhere, I could tolerate working with Richard's ego. I couldn't tolerate working Charleine's tantrums and petty management power-plays. You know what you're going to get with Richard, and if you can't manage a colleague's big ego head on, you're not really going to get very far in business.

This year’s series of The Apprentice has been the most bad-tempered, snide, tetchy and pig-ignorant yet. There’s no fun in any of the candidates - they’re a bunch of thoroughly nasty and spiteful little sycophants.

The Apprentice should come with a government health warning: ‘This programme is meaningless, unpleasant and will waste an hour of your life. It will sap your faith in humanity, and may leave you wondering why you bother at all. Do yourself a favour and don’t watch it.’

Funny - that's exactly how I feel about the Daily Mail.

Not by a long shot. There have been some truly repugnant people on the show, many of them completely incompetent to boot. I think he's actually an ok bloke, as far as The Apprentice goes, and a strong candidate.

And yet it was still vastly superior to Charlene's inane babbling. Even if she didn't want him to pitch, she could have picked someone else.

I don't mind him. He is overly confident, but I get that when you have a 100% record so far. However, David and Mergim do too and they don't go around thinking they are Gods gift. BUT, I thought Charleine was far worse.

He's a bit of a tosser but by no means the 'most unlikeable contestant ever'. That accolade has to go to that Jenny Celery person (or whatever her name is)

The same goes for him, he wanted to do the pitch but he isn't good at them. She isn't either but that's not the point, he is equally delusional to think he is good at them.

April should have public speaking skills if she won a national beauty pageant and likely was coached before Miss Universe so she must be deliberately laying low but if I was PM I'd suggest her to do the pitch.

I really like him but then I also loved Mark last year too. The girls are horrendous this year whereas I like the blokes for the most part.

Just because Richard didn't do well in one pitch doesn't mean he can't pitch at all. Even last year's supreme pitcher, Mark, got nervous and fluffed a pitch. Richard can certainly sell, communicates well and has a lot of confidence, so he ought to be able to pitch well as he has the necessary skills.

If someone repeatedly fails at doing something then that's a good sign they can't do it. One failure isn't.
