Stories going around today sugesting the doctor may appear in the lego movie 2

They are coming fom an interview with the director of the lego movie 2, where he says he is 'talking to the bbc on thursday' 'about a certain character they own', which is being heavily speculated as the doctor.

I found the first lego movie hilarious personally, so I think it would be cool for him to appear.

Also it would probably be good for the profile of the show to have the doctor turn up in a big American movie.

Oo, you almost had me excited then.
Not my cup of tea I'm afraid.
Besides, I was more of a Meccano kid.

If it happens, it's probably the closest were going to get to seeing the doctor in a movie for some time at least.

I still think it will be fun to see him in it if true. Besides, like I said, whether it's interesting to you in particular or not, it will be another thing to boost the profile of the show.

Looked it up and found that it isn't due for release until 2018, which has got me thinking- if the deal is done and Capaldi is due to regenerate sometime before the movie's release, will the movie makers get a head's up before almost anyone else on new actor/outfit to allow the new 'current' doctor (aka the 13th) to be the one in the movie?

There is no way they could keep it a secret.

It would be strange though to see Capaldi in the Lego movie as the doctor but the current doctor on tv is someone completely different.
Unless they know he's going to be around as the doctor in 2018.

Well The Doctor plays a massive part in LEGO Dimensions and the level in the main story is superb and being acknowledged as a highlight of the game. The Weeping Angels are just fantastic, very scary! There is even a cameo from Special Weapons Dalek!
The LD level pack is released in Europe tomorrow and by all accounts, it is the best expansion yet. From what I've heard, it is a fanboys dream. Will review it on here in the next few days...
The LEGO ideas sets are due to be released before Christmas too!

All in all, the world's most powerful brand is taking Doctor Who to its heart, and if it does get included in TLM2 then that would be, well, Awesome!!!

I think it'd be a major coup for the show to land a role in the second Lego movie... and I see little reason why it can't happen either. I'd love to see Capaldi-Doctor running about in lego form in the sequel - and I loved the original! Such a fun movie!

hasn't Lego just released a Dr who lego not too long ago? Would make sense if so. I can't imagine many other BBC owned charaters that have a lego collection that could be the subject of the meeting. Unless they want to put Craig Revel Horwood in the second movie?

Why don't they put Arlene Phillips in that, too? Can't stand the woman! Plus, I used to love Lego when I was 8, but don't find it all that interesting now. I haven't seen The Lego Movie as it seemed boring and uninteresting.

Paul Hollywood would be good. He could be a baddie with mad staring eyes.

Boring and uninteresting? The LEGO Movie is witty and fun. Apart from the cheesy bit at the end. Works really well in 3D.

Think we might get a "Doctor Cameo" in the upcoming K-9 film?

It's a blast! Really good fun. One of the best films of that year.

Fits in with the release of the latest Doctor Who pack for Lego Dimensions, which, by the way, even has its own version of the intro that fans should check out even if they don't own the game: https://youtu.be/3dwed8jOyL4

I wouldn't be surprised, but at the same time I'd say the lego movie franchise would probably be a bigger deal, given that the only people likely to be interested in a K9 movie would be doctor who fans, and even then not all of them (I myself don't mind K9 having the odd appearance in the show, but have no interest in a movie with him as the main character), whereas the lego movie probably appeals to a much wider cross section of people.

I agree. I was reluctant to watch it at first as I thought it was 'just a kids film' but then when I did was pleasantly surprised that it was written in that special sort of way to appeal to adults and be good for children. In that way it is much like doctor who, which is why the Doctor potentially being involved in the sequel makes good sense.
