It's the game player approach. The advantage is in working out the strategy of the other player, in this case the producer's list.
It works on the judges ordering. General ordering is one top half, one bottom as far as it can go. One of the obvious candidates is saved and the highest placed DO couple is called first. That places all below and around them in jeopardy. Focus on the faces, all left are worried and the viewers think it could be any of them. In the second call session the final two are one from the bottom and one from just below the DO already called. Both credible, if Kellie is on DO, why not Helen? Actually, it would need a viewers board that is almost a complete inversion of the judges, possible but unlikely.
Half way through any series, the vote numbers start to pick up and the votes become for who viewers want in the final, and the sympathy votes fade. Kellie was caught out by being positioned high enough to get no sympathy votes. But it does imply she's not clearly one viewers want in the final. She needs to work on profile, expect more remarks pointing out she's also working full days on EastEnders. I get the impression EastEnders producers would rather mnot have "their" actors involved. It's expected by higher management, so it happens but SCD don't get concessions like choosing stories in EastEnders that would give a lighter load.
