I thought Weird People would be better. It has a bit of a Prince feel about it.
![]() I think the record company had already decided on Hair before Prince died. I saw a clip of it (I mean a clip of the video to Hair, not a hair clip ) on Lorraine in March and am now hearing the song played on Imagine FM. It reminds me a bit of the song No Air from about 5 years ago.

I saw a list of the best-selling singles of 2015, and Black Magic came in at a respectable no 27. Not quite top 20, but their best-selling single so far, and still in the lower reaches of the charts for a few months into this year.
At first I was dismayed by the song title Love Me Like You copying the Magic Numbers' hit from 10 years earlier. However, I knew instantly that it had a good melody. It was of course the follow-up to Black Magic, therefore a rare example of my noticing and liking 2 successive singles by any act. Finally, once Love Me Like You went on to push me off the fence in favour of accepting Jade as my favourite Little Mixer, LMLY has become my favourite Little Mix song yet! ![]()

I've always liked that Wall of Sound so I really liked LM's vocals paired with a "big" sound like they did for LMLY. It sounds much fuller to me than most current pop music. Thats why I'd like to hear more instruments or orchestration in their songs.
Their A&R had a guy who does movie scores do early submissions for the third album but I guess it didnt work out. He was excited at the time too. |

I liked the Wall of Sound thing the first time around. And the bigger, dramatic sound would suit Little Mix. I thought LMLY showed that whilst LM are a modern day girl group they could acknowledge that they are part of an older tradition. I can imagine them doing The Crystals or The Ronettes at some stage.

Although, as stated before, 80s and 80s-inspired music makes up a large proportion of my music selection, I do also have a taste for sixtiesish stuff like the Pipettes, Candie Payne, Those Dancing Days, and The Montrose Avenue, so if LM were to continue to build retro influences into their music I'll continue to take an interest. Certainly the fact that Get Weird has such a spread of themes - from 50s/60s diner pop (LMLY), through 80s-tinged synthy bop, to whatever 'trap' is (Lightning), is perhaps why I like it so much - I like it when artists push the boundaries and try different things (Mansun are a good example of this, actually - their three albums are quite different from each other...)
I'm looking forward to what LM do next (and admit I never thought I'd say that!) Hopefully they'll take note of the reception GW has had and continue to push the boundaries - I'm not exactly expecting the girls to turn round and say the new tracks are inspired by Terris and Electrasy, much as I'd adore that, but if the writing and performance stays as strong as GW's proved to be, then I'll carry on looking in. Maybe some new collaborations will bring a mix of Influences to the table, too... |

I wouldn't disagree with any of the above. I'm genuinely interested in what these 4 girls do next, three albums in and they are still with plenty of potential. I favour a great deal of 70s music so I hope they listen to some Philly Sound, dub reggae, even a little glam rock!

Little Mix could make a double album next?
One CD of pop and one of R&B. Just an idea. |

I quite like Foals, although I'm more an Angels and Airwaves and 1975 person as I like epic rock and melody. That's probably personal taste. And Foals are definitely not the new Slint or My Bloody Valentine...my indie favs.

I suppose this should be under an album 4 topic but somebody else can start one if they want. These are the 2 quotes making the rounds. Now I'm a little confused because a week before this interview came out the girls said they would record the album by year's end, but here Jade says "soon". My guess would be a rerelease in Q4 with the tour DVD and the next album following the GW schedule. Syco always wants Q4 album releases so I think 2017. Also Chart News @chartnews 15h WW sales: @LittleMix, Get Weird 8,000 (734,000 total). |

Let's face it LM like the Sugababes and Girls Aloud before them are manufactured pop fluff who sing songs written by producers. They will be forgotten about in 5 years time.

Op block on Little Mix hit AFTER spying this picture of LEIGH-ANNE PINNOCK at Thursday’s Maserati bash at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls, Meghan revealed she was supposed to duet with LITTLE MIX on their current single Hair before they roped in SEAN PAUL. She said: “Leigh-Anne is so perfect, I love her. “Little Mix wanted me to feature on one of their songs. “I couldn’t do it though – the timing didn’t work out. “It was Hair, their new one. I heard that a long time ago and I was like, ‘I love this song so much’. “But I was in getting vocal surgery.” Interesting label idea there. |

This probably isnt related to the album (but who knows?) but LM posted a hint in their Spotify playlist saying a new "special song" is coming out next week. Speculation is that it could be connected to their Cornetto ad campaign.
http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news...for-next-week/ The girl group revealed plans for a "special" release next week in a secret message on their Spotify playlist. "So we have an extra special song coming for you next week," Jesy Nelson said on the track listed as 'Excited?!'. "I bet you can't wait to hear it!" It probably isnt about the album because wouldnt she have said "single"? |

Get Weird continuing to sell well each week proving that if you release a really good album, people will buy it.
Has there been any more news about this special release on Spotify? I've only just read about it here so if they've recorded a new song for an advert, it could work as a one off single that won't appear on an album. |

^^They did another audio teaser on Monday and said it was a remix of a song from the album.
https://twitter.com/perriedactyle/st...29344273125376 Start guessing! Also we've been following the trail of Secret Love Song in the Philippines. 2 weeks ago, it ascended to #1 on Spotify there (in a country that mostly streams) and has only increased its lead over #2. People from there say "its everywhere" and one of their big popstars performed an uptempo version with a dance break on prime time tv. A family posted a cover on FB and it went viral with 2.5 million views, and landed them a tv spot. Its also catching on in other South East Asian countries. Someone from Australia even used it in a gaming parody about Call of Duty. Its a big hit. |

Does anyone follow Little Mix and Perrie on Snapchat? I've noticed lately that you often see Perrie, Jade and Leigh Ann having banter with each other and acting stupid, but very rarely would you see Jesy. Even last night at her birthday celebration you only saw a few clips of her then the rest were the other 3.
Do you think she doesn't get on with the others as much? Or perhaps she just enjoys the quieter life. Who knows! |

This is the 1 year anniversary of when Black Magic, the lead single of the Get Weird album, first charted and began its 3 week #1 run. In that year, LM was in the Top 40 for 51 weeks. Hair just missed making it an entire year by leaving the T40 this week.
Here's the stats. Get Weird is #17 this week, making it 34/36 weeks charting its been in the Top 20. It only missed out at #21 and #23 on two weeks. It currently stands at 579k. Black Magic went Platinum and has 870k combined sales, and spent 41 weeks charting Top 100, making it the second longest running song by a girl group behind the Pussycat Dolls. Its still getting usage like in this trailer for a German vampire movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFQzXSVftX0 Love Me Like You went Gold with 430k sales. Secret Love Song is now LM's second biggest selling single at 560k sales and Gold. Its topped the Spotify chart in the Philippines for 56 days and counting, currently the fourth longest running Spotify #1. They are crazy for this song and their local pop artists have even covered it on television. Hair is at 373k sales and will probably go Gold soon. The video has become one of their most watched and is only a little way off 100 million views. Its one of the most liked, it just hit 1 million likes. The Get Weird Tour was very successful. On the UK/IRE leg, there were over 300k audience (est. 325k) and with 29/34 shows reporting Billboard has the gross at over $15 million so far. There were also Australasian and European legs. Not a bad album campaign after coming off some uncertainty making the album. LM have started Album 4 so hopefully they continue their climb. |

But wait, there's more. The Salute album is getting some good play too.
Competition is being used in the WW trailers for Bridget Jones's Baby. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJsvmscPY9w And the US broadcaster for the Rio Olympics, NBC, aired a segment on primetime last Sunday during the Women's Gymnastic trials about the US Women's Team and used the song Salute as the score. Its gotten just under 2 million views, and NBC posted it on their Facebook (twice), their Olympic website (where its the top trending video) and on YouTube and Twitter. Their song has better comments than the Katy Perry NBC Olympic theme just released. Last year, A Different Beat was in the soundtrack for Pitch Perfect 2. |
