I'm not sure about the scoring, you can count on one hand those that scored over 35 in it, it's a low scoring dance, I would love him to have a great one, but I just don't see it with what the show has become now.

Looking back at old rumba's and I was shocked to see some like Alesha, where they were actually given the steps of the rumba instead of a 'take' on one. I love it done right, but the pros are just not putting them together anymore. Fingers crossed Aliona can though.”

And interestingly in bloke rumba terms 2 of those who scored 35 or more in the rumba were contenders partnered with Aliona. And that's why I understand the assumption that Jay will score 35 or more given Aliona is good at this, and Jay's contemporary training should give him a head start

She must have been a very odd child!”

I've never done a handstand in my life, and dont think am that odd, well maybe bit odd in that am on this forum which to be honest, found it quite witty in the beginning, which is why I joined but finding all the negative comments (cos lots of you so invested in your favourites) a bit depressing, just enjoy the show and hope to see lots of good dancing (dont care if its perfect, just want them to entertain me on a saturday night) and may the best entertainer win

I found it hard to believe that Anita had never done a handstand before. Handstands, headstand, cartwheels (which I couldn't do) and apple turnovers were standard in my peer group, especially for girls who were not girlie girls.

I couldn't do any of them - no idea why, but always toppled over. My sisters could, but not me.

I've never done any of those either (though I'm not sure what an apple turnover is, to be honest). I've attempted them, but always failed miserably so gave up. It was all I could do to manage a forward roll

Gio asking Aljaz what it means to be in love was the cutest thing ever

The Gio / Aljaz chat was the nicest of all of the ones that have been aired, and it seemed like they genuinely like each other too.

Gio is a true cutey, love his facial expressions

Yep, Darren got 30, Mark got 27 and Chris Hollins got 38 (out of 50 - Darcey was a guest judge addition; excluding Darcey's 7, he got 31 out of 40).

That did make me smile....was that a rehearsed question I wonder, or could Giovanni not think of anything else to ask? I did start to wonder what was coming up next....with Giovannis tendency to break into song, I was half expecting a 'I wanna know what love is' outburst

you may well have done - there is a photo on twitter of her with Jo and Natalie (I think)

wondering if she has been drafted in to replace Ola who they have apparently barred from Strictly

EDIT - nope, completely wrong - she was with Karen and Janette

I like Anya .

Wonder what they'll do with Iwan (remember him? ) on finale night if Ola really has been suspended.

Im sure Anya can step in or he will wiggle on the dance floor and rip open his shirt on his own

Steve Backshaw danced alone last series in the final as Ola had smashed up her leg training for The Jump and couldnt dance so it wont be the first time one of her partners has been left alone on final night

I think that she's rehearsing with the other pros. That's what I gathered from a tweet to Jason G today. She might be in the pro dance this week

I really hope that they include her in the pro line up next year.

With Anita's background though, I doubt any of her peer group did handstands etc. I know she's said her parents are very supportive of anything she does and allowed her a lot of freedom, but that's probably not the same for many of her peers.

What background's that?

I didn't do handstands as I fell over every time. My best mate couldn't do them either. My sisters were very good at it.

and so was Anita

That's interesting. I found cartwheels easy but could never find the balance to maintain a handstand (unless up against a wall which really shouldn't count)
