I think it would be an absolute hoot!

Bit of a messy show tonight but glad to see Karen back.

They have to do a balancing act. They want the publicity that the Mail and other papers bring over the "controversy," always good for the ratings.
But they don't want the "comedy character" to reach the final because it makes a mockery of the programme.
So at some time they're going to have to "nudge the public" to get him into the bottom two.
They're good at "nudging." They're presently doing some, "positive nudging" for "their man Ore."

Made me smile to hear her parrot out the usual 'everyone is so great now, so many good dancers it makes it easier to leave', and then Zoe asking Gio a question and saying 'normally there's people not so good and they go, but now everyone's so good' .... is she even watching the same show as the rest of the world?! I wonder if she hates having her remarks scripted for her so she has to say these things when she is probably thinking the exact opposite. There are still far worse dancers than Laura in the show Zoe and you damn well know it, at least have the guts to say it or roll your eyes at camera if the producers make you say these things.

I was a little annoyed by her saying the judges missed the point and its in our DNA, and there's nothing we can do about it. Every year contestants are told to school their expressions for the dance, to act the part, so why then does Karen find it perfectly ok to let Rinder off? Is she saying that the judges have been wrong to knock dancers for not having the right facial expression over the last 14 series?

Not if she gets Len's job it won't. God I hope she doesn't, she is so full of herself and so obviously swayed by a hot male contestant. Mind you it might be fun if her and Darcy don't get on, would be funny to see them bitching at each other on the panel, hehe

The judges can never make up their minds, I think. They're either harping that someone doesn't do enough facial expressions, or they're complaining about too much.

Perhaps he thinks the public vote to keep him in each week because he is a good dancer. I wonder what he would think if he knew the majority vote him in to laugh at him. Mind you he did say that 'it just shows you don't have to be a dancer at all to learn to do some basic dancing' ... perhaps he has figured it out after all because basic dancing is really all he has mastered right now while other, better dancers are leaving before him.

Agreed, a really poor selection.”

Well the DM can F*@k off. They claim that the judges abuse their positions. Yeah the pot calling the kettle black.

So if the Mail wants Ed gone, I'm fine with him staying and toast being spat across the breakfast table. Who the hell does Paul Dacre think he is, May's Puppeteer?

Sorry - saw red, rant over.

They need to put him at the bottom and not tie all the other couples then theres less chance of him being above the bottom two after voting

he should not be kept in by the judges over any of the other celebs IMO

Ann Widdecombe made it to week 10 and Ed is miles better than her, and Judy Murray made it to Blackpool and he's better than her too, and Russell Grant who got to week 8.

Every year we get this. If the dance off always contained the actual worst two dancers it might be "correct" but it would be really boring. Ed is one of the better poor dancers across the series and if people want to see him stay in then o.k. When they show the leaderboard every week Tess says "your votes can change all that" , that is the show.

Why? He was an awful dancer and was bottom in the public vote in the first round. To me, that doesn't sound like someone we want back. "He's a nice guy" is not a reason for wanting to see him dance again.

And I am just waiting for the day when Karen actually disagrees with the judges Chloe-style instead of agreeing sycophantically with everything.

Because he handled his part the most controversial elimination in a good few years with tact and grace and if his 'reward' for that is to get to skitter round the dance floor one more time done up as a sparkly reindeer that seems fair enough,

I don't get the impression from Ed that he thinks he is anything other than a rank beginner.

SCD is always this way. Someone is rubbish but sticks around much longer than anyone thinks is possible (i.e. about week 8 or 9). DS goes ballistic and many posts and polls appear complaining about people voting for entertainment over the purity of dance. Twas ever thus and he'll be out soon enough.

It so happens that this year we have three not-great dancers, one of whom is a hugely popular Olympian with a hugely popular partner, a duffer who turns out to be able to dance a bit and has a waspish sense of humour and a duffer who turns out to be hard-working and far more likeable than anyone thought he would be. The cull will still happen but we're likely to lose Daisy and possibly one more (shock boot) before it is complete.

I don't like that line up BTW, except Gethin and Frankie. Don't see a point in getting Melvin back. He _was_ awful.

Do we actually know Melvin was bottom of the public vote? His public vote was lower than Anastacia's but that doesn't necessarily mean he was bottom. I'm not saying he's a great signing but I've no problem with it after how he was treated - judging by some of the other names it looks like they didn't exactly have past celebs queuing up to be in it.

How do you know that the 'majority' vote for him to laugh at him?

Or perhaps he is like me recalls like me , it is not the one who dances the best ,but the one who makes the most improvement in dancing just a thought, or the other he accepts what the public wants and just keeps trying every week

Like you I have an off button which will be used this year the line up is so uninspiring for me

Well, they aren't voting for him because he is the best dancer, that's for sure. So if they aren't voting him in for dance skill, and all of his dances have had comedy themes it kinda restricts the options here.
