Samba has its roots in Africa via the West African slave trade and African religious traditions, particularly of Angola and the Congo, through the samba de roda genre of the northeastern state of Bahia, from which it derived.

Did they say its an African themed samba? I noticed Oti's samba dress has taken inspiration from Ndebele art when they showed it yesterday.
I love that idea, given samba has its roots in Africa and not in Brazil, as some people imagine
