I really enjoyed their interview this eve. They do have a good chemistry, and just seem to be loving the process without getting all effusive and unnecessary.

I like mice, couldn't bear Pixie myself.
But what I noticed more than anything was that Kevin and Louise have a nice natural and friendly connection. Very easy together. And as hard as a watch him, for the life of me, I can't see this arrogance posters talk about. I've seen it in spades with a past popular pro but not Kevin. |

I think they just meant that JR could be this year's Mark Wright and as such, avoid the QF dance off. Whilst Louise would be like Pixie in that she could have avoided the DO all series but end up in the QF dance off (and perhaps be eliminated).

Well I like mice too ... dancing in a windmill in old Amsterdam. It doesn't matter if you prefer Louise to Pixie. It does matter that you import something I've not commented upon, namely Kevi Clifton arrogance. I neither notice it nor comment it.

That's ok Domestos. I'm a tad sensitive to comments being imported or attributed to me when they don't belong so hope my reaction doesn't create unease between us. You're a hygienic poster usually ...

Not at all. I can disagree with a poster in one thread and happily agree with them in another. And 'a hygienic poster'? That's a totally new one to me. I do my best

Purely on ability and performance it should be Rinder and Claudia in the the dance off. I hope that is the case.
Her training video was not good. Fast Latin is not her style and she and AJ have zero chemistry. Does not help that they have been cast as Prom Kids all the way through and given ghastly music. She is a great athlete but not a great dancer, and it's not for want of effort. Judge is just boring now. I have stopped watching him. Oksana, however, is a great addition to the pro team. |

Is this one of those are other people seeing the same thing as me moments. I thought the salsa looked as if they were going to rely on her gymnastic ability more than dancing again. It's what she was criticized for last week. I don't think it's a good idea to be too reliant on it. The point of the show is dancing.

They're bound to make the most of her gymnastic ability ... especially in the salsa. It's to be expected. At the beginning AJ was criticised for this and rightly so but some dances lend themselves to acrobatics and, within reason, the salsa is one of them. It's how she'll cope in heels that's the main worry though she'll probably be more in hold with AJ than she was in the jive so she should be more comfortable.
If that is true of the whole thing then it will be more moaning about why doesn't Claudia get 10s (after all Olga Korbut did) and ignoring the fact that it isn't a show dance. |

I don't think they will be in hold much, if any, (salsa doesn't necessarily have to have much as there is loose and close hold). And "within reason" was the problem last week along with partner work. Their training showed far more gyrating and gymnastics than dancing as a couple.

Salsa basic steps is so boring... what make salsa interesting is the combination of armography, spin and acrobatic lift... salsa is like 50% gymastics anyway so I do not think they will critisize them for putting lots of acrobatic skills.
Cali (Colombian) Salsa has the most lifts and aerial movement but no one could possibly do that on SCD. They simply do not have the expertise. Most SCD salsa are utter pants and a million miles away from the real thing. Maybe in the end it doesn't matter what they do since the GBP prefer flashy gyrations and wouldn't know salsa from line dancing? |

Don't agree at all. Manic armography and endless lifts do not make up the dance - there should be decent salsa motion there as well. Unless of course you prefer LA style or the curious LA ballroom hybrid. Bleurghhhhh.

At this stage more wow factor the better... as long as they do not break any rule. |

(2) turns and spins are part of the basic salsa steps (3) there isn't any gymnastics in salsa and only lifts in show dance salsa. That's OK there is for this show but too much and not in keeping with the song takes away from the dance content and can be inappropriate. It's a good thing to use your celebrities strengths but when it becomes too obvious and at the cost of the dance then it becomes a negative. |

Back to my original point... basic slasa steps are so boring... they are allowed to do some lifts and Claudia is capable to do flashy lifts so why not?
At this stage more wow factor the better... as long as they do not break any rule. It is not a ballroom dance. It is not one of the 10. It does not matter what they do. The judges wouldn't know a real salsa from the rank salsambachacrapthing they do on Strictly anyway. I've seen seen a proper basic salsa step (there are at least 5 actually) on Strictly so I wonder if any of you know what it looks like? Just musing. There are few knowledgeable salsa dancers on the boards who do know the real thing but we have given up waiting to see it. I hope you get your wow. |

Yes, as I said in my earlier post this is the only form of salsa which does have the aerial lifts, complicated footwork and speed. I also said there was no chance they would ever do anything like that on Strictly because none if them have the expertise or ability for this.

Judge Rinder needs to work on the hip-action but doesn't look too bad.
I don't think Danny will get 40 this week, for One, the music is TOO FAST for a Tango. ![]() |
