Interesting. Are these things connected? Quote:
The DS twitter feed is funny, loads of bad feedback that they keep having to remove, they rearranged it so badly and made it so unusable, people are tweeting asking why they removed the cult section....not sure if i'm doing this right but:
HERE REGARDING COMMENTS all they keep talking about it "real estate drive through to the forum" what does that even mean? Quote:
For the person confused by the word 'real estate' - that means the area that used to host comments. Our current thinking is that in a future version instead of having a comment section, the space will link to the relevant forum (for example if you are in the movies section, it will link to the movies forum).
In terms of editorial site updates, we have compiled a list of feedback from all platforms (forum, social, email) and have passed it on to the teams responsible. There's nothing we can personally do but pass on feedback. Thanks for your continued patience! DS Quote:
yes they have removed the comments section.
i questioned their statement in another thread as i saw a tweet saying about "real estate drive through to the forum" which sounded, frankly, like the sort of wanky pr speak Perfect Curve would spout. Their response was: Incidentally, this was six days ago and the problems mentioned in that post still haven't been fixed. Quote:
Hi,
Comments have been disabled (at least temporarily, if there is a demand for them we will of course rethink). We're no longer allowed to use the word 'real estate' so will say that we're hoping the place that used to host comments will drive people to the appropriate forum in a future update to better interlink the two sites together, pushing more people to use the forums instead of sticking to articles. Everyone that had a commenting account also has a forum account, so the transition should be a seamless one. Thanks |

Regarding real estate, coments et al. I didn't even know it was a thng until I started reading it had stopped. I don't do twatter and I don't really go anywhere else on DS other than forums. I occassionally read a news article but find them a bit thin/tabloid.
I used to follow the minute by minute updates on BB - I think that was a DS feature but I haven't looked at it for ages because without live feed I assume the minute by minute won't be there any more. |

Actually looking back I had used that quote earlier. Maybe Chins got stuck in my box so to speak. (That will be a new experience for him!

I see what you did there....
Now are you going to share the origins of your user name with us. That was the original premise of the thread although some 16,000 posts ago. I can't remember now how any of us came to have the names we have. |

Twenty Twelve was brilliant and according to a friend of mine who works at the Beeb rather more accurate than we might like to think.
Sorry have to write my other favourite quote....another David Tennant voice over that i love so true on so many levels: " Ian is about to be reminded that the artist isn't always the best person to ask to explain his own creation in actual words."
