No my love you haven't offended me at all. And if it gives people comfort then thats brilliant. Its just me. I clearly have some internal conflict about a religion I no longer subscribe to ( if I ever really did) but that has iconography that has burrowed into my soul and on some subliminal level still has some potency for me.

No it didn't haunt me P. And itwouldn't because I disposed of it in a church. If I had disposed of it in a Biffa bin - well who knows?

Actually all the nuns I have ever known have been really lovely. I only know of the fierce ones that run schools from books and so on. I actually have a friend (well an acquaintence really) who is a nun. In fact I had a very surreal evening a few years back when after having attended a committee meeting, I found myself having a drink with a priest and a nun in the chapaincy bar!

It's a somewhat sacred site, and the Pope visited in 1979. But my Dad loved it, and that's why I love it.

Is there a particular event associated with it like at Lourdes? (my convent was a french convent and very keen on us fund raising and collecting money to send people to Lourdes.)

To change the subject I have just been amused by something I read in the DS settings. You know the bit where you can put your location and things like " I am the egg man"

There is a place where it shows your date of birth and it says that your DoB is displayed in several places on DS and to click here it you don't want it to be shown. It then says If your date of birth changes please contact DS support.

Oh yeah! That just turned into the usual Bollywood rant against Richard Dawkins for pages and pages without ever addressing the thread topic. The last time i was in there Bollywood was saying Richard Dawkins wasn't qualified to talk about religion but she (with no qualification in the field) was qualified to talk about evolutionary biology. One rule for anyone she disagrees with another rule for anything she wants to advocate.
