Oh yeah! That just turned into the usual Bollywood rant against Richard Dawkins for pages and pages without ever addressing the thread topic. The last time i was in there Bollywood was saying Richard Dawkins wasn't qualified to talk about religion but she (with no qualification in the field) was qualified to talk about evolutionary biology.
I've read it all before loads of times.
Oh defintely a thread to avoid. It was from the off to be honest but I had hoped I had killed or at least diverted it on page one. Sadly not to be.

Sweet dreams. x

Morning all, after much yelping and chasing with a large plastic measuring jug the enormous hairy monster disappeared down a crack in the skirting last night. Traumatised, we slunk off to bed

Enjoy yourself at Knock, tk. I still have an old wooden icon of Mary and child in a drawer, to me it's just another incarnation of the goddess but I can no longer put it on view. Likewise, a wooden cross I've had since young now hangs in my larder where it seems to be happy enough. It was also a pre-christian symbol so I'm not going to chuck it. I've no idea what happened to my rosary beads. I reckon one day they thought " we don't belong with this mad old bint" and slithered off into the night Oddly enough some Pagans also use prayer beads. It's a very ancient habit. Just not ten decades of the rosary and a Hail Mary

Now if I came across a little hidden spring or stream that would be holy water.

Consequence of your opiate infused manure?

Things are looking up over in GD. They must have a new Mod, A thread has been closed on the grounds that the opening post was unresearched, not true and misleading.

*applauds the mod who took the decsion*

Well one would hope so but there is a word 'scatty' and I understand that poppy juice can have that effect. Who knows what scatty behaviour she got up to when she was at her poorliest.

Oh Hi P - didn't see you come in.

I have visions of chamber pots being emptied out of windows like medieval towns

Hellooooo! Back from my pilgrimage, it was a lovely day and quite warm. Had a good stroll round, lit candles for the dead rellies, got a few bits for the new grand nephew, and some Knock rock for you lot. Mind the teeth.

Hope the tarantula has decamped, twass.

Oh heck! They don't bother me at all, but I feel for you.

No souvenirs for me, just a nice happy memory to stow away of a place my Dad loved, and it was lovely to light a candle for him.

To light a candle always brings peace. I do that too. Not in churches, but for the dead.

Smaller spiders I can deal with no problem....but this was a mofo of gigantic proportions the like of which you'd normally only see behind glass as an exhibit!! Unless scaredyvision magnified its size

There's a spider in my house that's so big it wears shoes. Luckily, they don't bother me that much. Although having said that, i am now itching because of phantom spider feelings.

My dad puts conkers down to ward off the spiders and it seems to work.

Where does he put the conkers?

I too like the candle lighting custom. That is something I do do.

He throws them at the spiders.

He actually places them on the window sills. My dads house is usually a haven for spiders but he only gets the odd one now. Maybe that one has eaten all the other spiders.

You are apparently meant to put the conkers in the corners of the rooms. I've tried that in the past and there did seem to be LESS, but not NONE. Not being conker season presently, that's not gonna work!!!

I wish my spider would wear clogs, cos then at least I would know where it was. Instead the sneaky bugger has ballet shoes on

When I phoned the gym and asked them to teach me yoga, they asked 'how flexible are you'.

I said 'I can't do Tuesdays'.

Perhaps the one he still gets is so odd the others keep away.

I find it hard to believe putting conkers in the corners of a room will deter spiders. Say they come in through a crack in the middle of the floor? How will they know there are conkers in the corners?

You'll have to ask the old wives the answer to that!

One of my earliest memories is of my Dad lifting me up to light a candle for his dead parents, in the same spot. So it was sweet.

Hope spider is sorted!
