I remember going to the corner shop and buying a bag full of penny sweets. I would take ages picking individual sweets, driving the shopkeeper mad in the process.

I was allowed tuppence worth a day, even after I got pocket money [sixpence, aged 6] there was no buying a Mars Bar and eating it all. It would have to be cut in three, as they cost sixpence back then. It made sense to have penny sweets instead, four Black Jacks for a penny or four fruit salads, two pink prawns for a penny, etc!!

Yes i remember then as the very occasional luxury lolly.
i can't remember what they were called but i seem to remember plain lemon or orange ice lollies....perhaps that's why i like them best now?

i remember the total over excited thrill of being taken to the cinema by the dad of my brother's friend and having MY OWN BAG OF SWEETS and not having to just have a couple of whatever was the family shared bag.
I do remember Orange Maid.....a rather large orange water ice which was very tasty!

Did anyone ever have an ice pop but squeezed the wrapper too hard and the ice pop flew out onto the dirty floor. Gutted.

Evening all, flying through ...wobbly wobbly wonders! They were my favourite lolly but HB got taken over by someone a few years ago, and they don't make them any more. Choosing penny sweets - the agony of the decision! But it was always four sports mixture for a penny.

And champagne popsicles!!! Feeling very deprived! Now must get dinner on, later.

This reminds me of the New Year family party we once had. Mini twass was 4 at the time. My mother thought bottled Bucks fizz was orange pop and gave her several glasses. The poor child slept for nearly 20 hours

She likes a drink these days. It didn't put her off at all! At our millennium party when she was about 13 she sneaked several alcoholic drinks and got woozled again I had to educate Mum in reading the labels of drink bottles!!!

Is that the last of the new arrivals tk?

Here the bottle reared lambs are coming on a treat....I am sure they will be off the bottle soon. They certainly kick off a chorus of baaaas every time they spy a human. Humans mean milk

I've had the opposite experience. A friend was drinking J2O all night when it fist came out and she was wondering why she wasn't getting drunk when all around her were imbued with the characteristics of alcohol.

Hi twass, we have one more who is always a late (I suspect she isn't even in calf, she's a rather old lady, but we're giving her the chance).

Pet lambs are relentless! When we had sheep they couldn't be contained and would show up at the kitchen door if they thought it was feed time!
