This is a very satisfying time of year to be a gardener! Everything is blooming. I can see my lupin is about to come out, despite a wabbit having nibbled the primary stem....I may still get a partial bloom on that spike.

Oh Twass, my wee yard is looking lovely, all thanks to the lovely nurse who cleared it all out for me i have all sorts out! The only thing that died was my anemone i have cosmos out, welsh poppies, butterfly lavenders, violas, marguerites, rusher daisies, pansies, fuscia, i have three lavenders i thought were dead but left them just in case are creeping back to life!

it's lovely all sorts of wild things have seeded!! i may even have cow parsely i'm not sure yet it hasn't thrown any flowers out yet! could be yarrow!
i shall check camera and see if there are any good shots!

aqualegia for Twass

My garden is a semi wilderness but that's how I like it. Lots of roses, lavender, daisies, foxgloves, fuchsias, sage and rosemary, all sorts!

The lane is full of cow parsley, it's very delicate like lace. I love weeds. Well some of them

I have some foxgloves but not sure if this is a flowering year (i know they are every two years so it might be next year!! i like the so called weeds too i let stuff grow and if it's pretty i keep it love cow parsley it is the smell of summer....

I got mine from a nursery they are perennial and apparently are known for their loose breeding

when i was ill a friend of mine brought a bunch of all different ones from her garden for me they were so beautiful...

WHoa.....looks like a beautiful cephalopod.....I wonder if it's any relation to Freesias? They have that same waxy delicacy. It must be fabulous for you to now grown your own and potter in the garden! I dearly love to potter. I spend hours doing it just admiring everything

Doesn't it just!!
I can't do much yet but i have the world's smallest watering can that holds a litre (can't carry anything heavier) so i love the watering time (it takes about 20-30 trips!) every pot gets it's time of dead heading and making sure all is well!!! it's lovely. Even sitting with my camera is lovely....

You do appreciate the small things of life having been unable to access them. When young I was seven weeks in bed, two of them in a hospital ward, and as soon as I was out I made the then husband stop the car so I could get out and hug a tree. I thought I would never see a tree again. And of course, you were banged up for vastly longer!!!

I think it's imperative to take the time to see the beauty, to feed your soul, to aid you through the tough times. Even looking out the window at my mum's at the cows or photographing flowers people brought me (my mum was so sweet she was obsessive about me having lovely flowers to look at!) was soul food really losing oneself in the exquisite beauty if it all....it's a valuable lesson to learn i think....stays with you forever....as you know from your experience. 22 months though dunno how i lasted!!!

You do appreciate things more if you've suffered a bit. I notice this with people and also with myself. It teaches you many things. You could become a guru for people in a similar position, write a guidance book for how to cope [and make a tidy bit of dosh in so doing ]

Being pooped from gardening and all that bopping last night, I am going to drag my weary carcass up the stairs to Bedfordshire. Night night! x

Had usual Sunday night egg and chips, followed by a shared ice cream with choccy sauce (t shirt now in wash, dropped ketchup and ice cream down it). On way home we called into the graveyard where mrtk's parents are buried and tidied up the grave, so a productive day all round.

Loved your pics, the hedgerows here are blooming with cow parsley. When we lived in UK, did everything to try and grow in the garden, but it never worked. The suggestion twass made about a book sounds brilliant, I would buy it.

Yes the cow parsley is just coming out here too the verges look like they have low flying clouds hovering above them! the smell on a warm day is intoxicating......i got a big clump of these enormous ox eye daisies roots given me (they grow to about four or five foot tall) and in amongst them i'm sure there's cow parsley leave!! there's no flower as yet but finger's crossed!!!

It's weird you and Twass say that, my GP has been gong on at me for a few years now to write something. I wrote him a short story framed as doctor's presentation of a new disease would look if presented to the Lancet , half way through being ill; he found it really funny and has been on at me ever since to write a book! i started before my last big op but ever since my brain hasn't worked and i've lost words (i recently wondered if i'd had a mini stroke and no one told me ) then the pages i had written disappeared during my disastrous hard drive suicide....

Good luck with the cow parsley, I even dug bits up and tried to transplant them.

Don't be discouraged! I think you have been heavily medicated, and you could do it. I know you have cheered me up at some dark times xx
