Delighted you enjoyed the tennis p, I didn't see any of it.

Visitors just arrived safe and sound at home, it was lovely to have them. Spent a lot of time cooking, now to get on with the washing...

Hi tk! I did indeed have a good time. I love having visitors [will be having mini twass and two of her pals this weekend] but oh, the washing afterwards! All those sheets and towels!

invite me twass. I am the perfect guest. If I am coming by car I bring my sleeping bag and a towel and a bottle of wine too. Its only my best friend in central London who gets the short end of the stick because there is no parking so I have to go by train to her and I can't carry sleeping bags etc.

I expected it to be full of rain water. Looks beautiful - are they wild or garden gron flowers? I went foraging down by the canal last night ( in the rain!) for wild flowers. Normally there is honeysuckle galore down there. I intended to pick a few sprigs for the fragrance. Some rotter has been having a serious tidy up. All the edges are strimmed and the climbers growing over the fences all removed. Along that stretch of tow path I pick raspberries, rosehips and plums - all gone!

That is a shame Nature knows best. She doesn't need to be strimmed by busybodies!

There are garden flowers, hedgerow flowers, herbs and ferns and some ivy.

When I first moved here, mr tk and I had some battles. But his ancestors had to reclaim land to provide for their families. It's a very gentle balance.

I've just been out skyclad and danced under the moonlight And I made a little altar earlier all decked out with fruits and flowers, candles, etc. And I had a nice feast of chicken and roast potatoes and green beans and a chalice full of mead

Oh fabulous. Been here 21 years and never had a clear night. But there will be bonfires for St John's night (2 days) ? Leapyear is confusing me.

St John's or old Midsummer is usually the 24th but then Litha is usually the 21st, due to leap year it fell today instead. It is confusing! It poured with rain until about 2pm then cleared right up, thankfully. I didn't expect to see the moon so it's a real bonus

So cloudy here can't see anything. But it was a great childhood thing, the bonfire which we walked around, then the senior male (my uncle Pat) would throw embers to the four quarters of the fields to encourage good harvests.

I thought St John's fiesta was in mid March - I may be thinking of Joseph.

Nothing wrong with using land to farm TK. But the land I am complaining of is a canal tow path. If nature isn't allowed to run riot a bit there then where? And we are not talkign abotu natrue taking over the path itself. There is a path and then a sort of verge about 18 inches ot 2 feet deep at the narrowest and a fence behind separating it from the railway cut from a station or siding that looks as if it went out of use post Beeching. .

Think St John's Eve is 23 June, but confused with leap year, soz.

Couldn't agree more with you An, and a farm programme we were involved in for many years laid huge importance on leaving smallish areas for habitat. Then somebody decided this was wasteful (.?) and it disappeared. Really not happy.

eta I do everything I can to keep up the 'habitats'.

Ok, where are you all hiding?

Got all washing done and due to blasting west wind, dried.

Now getting ready for weekend break in Manchester to meet new grand nephew. I have a UK passport, tkjr an Irish one, will we be able to return together?
