I've had three rose bushes I thought had had it bloom this year. Most exciting! I love it when stuff comes back. Crikey I hadn't thought about him being talked about in forums! Of course I have known him for years. He started fencing as a small boy. He plays bagpipes as well strangely enough for an Englishman!!
Yes so many things i thought were totally dead after being neglected have come back to life with a bit of love and attention! i get stupidly excited about flowers growing. Yesterday i cut myself the most enormous bunch of sweet peas in my garden and it ws heavenly the colours the smell just beautiful.

i only know about fencing cos i did it for my Duke of Edinburgh award thingy but my brother was super good and fenced for england when he was younger.
The feeling in the thread was RIchard woz robbed!!! What was great was people were watching because of RIchard representing GB and really getting into it and saying how much they enjoyed it. Hope he feels he did well,i could be wrong but i think it's the best placing by a British Fencer at the Olympics so he did wonderfully well.

I know his family are very proud, especially as these are likely to be his last games. Good looking chap isn't he

I'm still waiting for my sweet peas to bloom, I am wondering if I got some sort of flowerless sweet peas cos they have grown massively and are very healthy, JUST NO FLOWERS! Never grown them that haven't bloomed by now before. Perhaps these are Autumn flowering sweet peas

We've just been out for a sit in the late afternoon sun. Glorious!!! My buddleia are smothered in butterflies and a dragonfly came and investigated it as well as we sat there

The birdies in my ivy over the kitchen door appear to have had a THIRD lot of babies Is this a record??

Hello all, glad you're having a good Saturday and your gardens sound lovely. Still not a glimpse of blue sky here, and hasn't been for over a week, can't remember an August like it.

Not seen any Olympics (buried under tax docs) but I loved the comment the two brothers who got silver for Ireland in the rowing, re their strategy, 'not too complex. A to B as fast as you can and hope for the best. Close the eyes and pull like a dog'

Now must get some dinner on.

I am baking this morning. I bought a kilo and a quarter of nectarines from the local market yesterday for 75p!

Some are past their best so I have baked them with ginger and lime and made tarts with greek honey. There is greek yogurt or creme fraice to go with. They are quite hot so be careful

Planets I have a few experimental ones in the oven with feta sprinkled on! I think it will work but no promises.

ETA Whoops - forgot to utilise safe storage. *checks lock is secure*

TK do you know of an Irish cheese that has the look and texture of Parmasan but is not so strong. I have been buying it from Birmingham markets - delicious.

No ill effects from the delicious coo!in fact i felt quite perky yesterday won't get results till thursday/friday (it's one's where they have to grow stuff and check out what grew)

Not sure about leaping and dancing but walking is not longer quite such a problem!

GOT is HIGHLY addictive and one episode is never enough. Just warning you in advance

Good news for feeling perky after the coo.....means you can indulge in meaty fantasies soon enough I reckon! Bacon sarnies for brekky?

Brilliant. Fresh produce on Friday eh? I will get my culinery thinking cap on.

Feta works well in a fruit tart, but I only had sm9oked feta and used thatwhich is perhaps an innovation too far.

Sausage and apple pie anyone?

Well sausage meat certainly; with apples, onions, lots of sage (its medicinal) and mustard, worcs sauce, garlic and ketchup.
