hmmmmm well not exactly Jane AUsten (is anyone?) but CJ Sansom is a very easy, pleasurable read. His PHd in History is from Birmingham. Historical novels set during Henry VIII there are six in the series and the first is Dissolution....ideal for kindles as they are brick size in physical form!!!
Ah now that might be the very thing. Cadfeal was holiday reading for me at one time- until I finshed them all. These damned authors are too slow.

Thanks.

I have an Edward Rutherford that I have been saving. That one is a brick too. But I will read it in hard copy format.

Pity there wasn't a parlimentary debate from that petition. The Hansard would have provided hours of amusement

My favourite book of all time is The Rebel Angels by Robertson Davies which may be available as the first part of The COrnish Trilogy. Set in a Canadian University it is a total delight. I can also recommend highly the Deptford Trilogy by the same author (well anything by him really!) but The Rebel Angels is a fabulous book. When i am home i read all his work every year!

I will check those out too than Thank you. I need about 200 pages a day I find. That was the problem with Cadfeal. One book lasted two days at best. Rutherford is good because his books are 1200 pages long. You really should give one a go. I do think you would like his books. I would recommend London as your starting place. Sarum was the first I read and I loved it. But I find the better I know the place it is set, the better I have enjoyed the book. I think you know London well.

The Sansom books are all about 1000 pages i think. They are interesting and easily drop inable if you know what i mean.
For sheer joy you have to read Rebel Angels at some point
I'm sure FInk would recommend Wodehouse to you! Maybe there is a collected works of Wodehouse if you're looking for something a little lighter and more comedic?

Off for some Viking before sleep night x

Ooh its quiet in here, thanks planets for the coffee this am! Sneaked in very early and was busy all day, no home baked goodies to offer

Weather lovely today, so took advantage and did a lot of tidying up outside and in the sheds.

I wasn't going to use it on cattle. Cows are nice and usually well behaved.

Isn't that where all the politicians go in their lunchbreak after they've had their fill at the multitude of subsidised bars of course. Or was that just in the days of LV's.

Ahh a butterfly cake for me please.
