Oh I love Neil Hannon, "fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice". Or "arse the size of a small country" gorgeous stuff.

Bloody heck p, thought our consumer rights were bad here, but buy almost everything from argos. If we have receipts etc there is never any problem.

Heating on here and a hot water bottle, off to bed. Nite

I should go in and say you are not satisfied with their product, and need something that will perform in the same way your old laptop did. Insist on a credit note at the very least, to put towards a better lappy. Tell them exactly what it would not do and what you need it to do. Then hopefully they will come up with a decent model that may cost more, but at least you'll be able to actually use it. That's what I would do and and their thing about it being sealed is nonsense. How do you know a product doesn't work properly until you try to use it?

I'd also want to see them demonstrate to me on the new model its capabilities and how to do x y and z on it before I bought it! Remember planets, the customer is ALWAYS right

Thanks Twass! it took 12 hours of updates before i could get it to work. I've had to install missing protocols to be able to get it to download a browser, i specifically said i didn't want an integrated battery and i find that's what i've got. I said i wanted a straight version of windows 10 and i find this was windows 7 upgraded to windows 10 ! 15 mins to download 1MB of data and it wanted 16 hours to download google chrome

I've sort of got it working but actually i'm not convinced that this will keep working without problems...it won't work at all with my new router so i've had to plug in the old one just to be able to download enough missing bits to get it to work. i'm knackered and feel like !!! trouble is i've looked around and i can find one lappy at john lewis which i'd have and my old lappy is available at Argos (thanks for the headsup tk!) at a cheaper than this was price.....decisions decisions sorry for moaning. Buying laptops is my nightmare it always goes wrong and is always a nightmare. Yet i bought one for my mum set it up and she's never had a problem with it. i bought the same one for me and i've had almost every bit of it replaced!

off to chat to my mum as she got her mate to get the personal number of the CEO of currys last night in case we needed to complain!

Always best to go straight to the top if you need to complain! I still think you should demand your money back, because you were not sold what you clearly asked for. Good luck!! xxx

Thanks Twass, just heard from my mum! she got on the phone and has arranged a meeting at 2pm with the branch manager to get an exchange - no refund

all i can say is don't buy anything from Currys if you buy a faulty product they don't give you a refund unless you don't open the product to find out it's faulty. what a crock of shit.
not only that they don't have anything else in stock comparable so i'm going to have to wait a week (apparently) to get an exchange. i'm so angry i can barely speak. not only that, 100 miles of driving back and forth and yet again to pick up the exchange so 150 miles of petrol and stress....i even explained i had to go to hospital next week so i needed a hassle free purchase.

if i had any health or energy like the old me i'd start a shitshorm over this. I got my MP and a Watchdog producer to get my money back when i was healthy!!!

This situation is really not good for your health at all. I'd be very tempted to say, you want a credit note for the money spent which you will in the fullness of time use to buy something possibly online for delivery...not a laptop. Use it for Christmas presents etc. That you will bring the lappy back and get your credit note but in the meantime, look into a replacement lappy elsewhere and try to get that on the same journey. You can't be going back and forth like this or having stress.

I simply can't believe they won't refund your money when it's not the product you asked them for. Extremely bad customer service and you should give them a dreadful review online once you have the credit note!

I know i was ill all night just from all the sitting in the shop getting cold and sitting here until 7am trying to make it work

it was £400 there isn't anything in currys i'd want to buy for £400!!! i'd be pushed to spend £20 in there if it wasn't for there online offer of a Dell which they didn't have anyway.

i know i can't believe about the no refund either i don't care what my mum says about being nice if i don't get my money back i will write a terrible review and make a complaint to customer services and Kate the CEO It will give me something to do while my kidneys fail

anyway i'm off now so i may not be online for a while as i won't have a laptop and then i've got hospital (timing eh?! )

hope everyone has a good week and i'll catch when i'm back int he 21st century last night made 1997 dial speeds look like lightening!!

lots of love xxx

I imagine planets must be in Currys by now and am hoping there might be a decent manager in that can override this ridiculous policy of theirs. After all, how are you to know the product you bought in good faith is no use til you open and try it out? And if you specifically ask for features that then aren't in the product you've got, isn't that the shop's fault? Sheesh!!!!

I'm absobleedinglutely livid at Curry's, I buy most stuff at Argos because the staff there are merely handing over a box and if you're not satisfied after 35 days return for an exchange or refund. Never had a problem. But you go to places like Curry's to discuss what you want/need and expect to get some service. Like you I hope planets got a half decent manager who realised what a pr disaster this could be, and sorted it.

It is well and truly out of order I have to say I've never bought anything from Curry's so have no experience to go on. However I would go in all guns blazing if this happened to me! As planets would if she were well enough for the stress of it.

Hehe think I bought a dishwasher at Curry's 30 odd years ago, and they don't operate here, far as I know. It's just out of order on so many levels.

Sounds like you are lucky they aren't in your area! They sound like a proper useless bunch!

I'm guessing planets can't use the net on her phone. I have my phone [which is pretty useless tbh] and my Kindle Fire which does internets if the laptop isn't playing ball, thank goodness!

Two tablets tk here! Though since the supposedly broken one reactivated, it goes for about four hours before needing charging, so wot I thought was wrong is correct (new battery needed).

Never used Internet's on phone, must try that sometime. Hope planets got some proper service today. Nite x

I find the phone screen too small to do internets on. I know you can expand it but its a faff. Bring back the Nokia 3310 I say! I loved that little phone
