Hi folks, hope all well. Two lines of washing dried today in the fierce wind! Big day tomorrow, it's the replay of the all important Gaelic football final and I'm getting my roots done as well. Have a good weekend x

That Jolen lightening looked amazing, and how easy when you get the hang of it. I've been keeping fingers crossed for planets too, it's so wrong when something new and expensive isn't fit for purpose.

*chews fingers* flags out all over the county, in the rain and high winds we have had they are bedraggled, but morale is high!!

Oh brillian Twass. I am so glad you found that tip helpful It is just right to brighten up nad soften the line from summer/winter hair isn't it?

Quastion here for TK. I have a friend staying who is planning a long weekend away to the West Coast of Ireland soon. It is for December and she is looking at cottages etc to hire on AirBNB and the like. But she doesn't know the area at all so I said I would see if you had any insight to offer,

She is looking for a location that is not too out in the sticks. Somewhere either in a bit of a town or a larger village where they can find a pub and somewhere to eat good food ( good means local rustic NOT three Michelin stars!). A place that is traditional with some wild wind swept scenery. Her vision is for windy walks in the rain, photographic opportunities (her partner is a photographer) and snuggled up, cosy eveings in pub or rental cottage or flat. If there are lererapchuns in the garden and a miricle working statue on the edge of the village - even btter ( in other words chuck in all the cliches!)

She is thinking Limerick or Kerry. She has been to Cork before and liked that. Have you any suggestions?

Hi An, apologies for being so late getting back to you, but footballing all afternoon and evening. We lost by one point, grrr.

Years since I was out of the county but if mrtk and I have the luxury of a few hours, or better still a whole night off, we head for Westport, County Mayo. Very popular with tourists, and deservedly so. A nice town and a great base for touring, super restaurants with not a Michelin star between them, in fact I have just booked my next birthday outing there. (B+B in a good hotel, €60 for 2).

Kerry is always lovely, but honestly anywhere on the wild Atlantic way is good.

Thanks for the tips TK. After some further discussion I was able to crystalise the vision she had for this weekend away. It turns out the idylic retreat she had in her minds eye was in fact Ballykissangel. I don't suppose she is the only English woman who has this as their generic 'Irish' template.

Anyway once we got past that it became easier and she was more open to other ideas. Has booked a place just outside Galway. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1509321?s=NQLf4RF4

Yes that was a low point admittedly. A real tear jerker in fact. But before then, and depsite their various troubles, it had been quite a cheerful series.

Why aye Sillies!!

It's been a busy time of it here at planetsHQ.

FIrstly the customer service lady at Currys was very good and i didn't have to have a massive fight at all. Whilst i couldn't get a refund she went out of her way to source a Dell laptop i had originally wanted and instead of waiting over a week for it arrive (by which time i would have been in hospital) she got one of her staff to drive the hundred mile round trip to go and get it!! It saved me the journey as i did over 200 miles driving back a and forth getting this sorted out. She also opened the lappy and made sure there were no errors on it and it was all working before she gave it to me. It was cheaper too so i got a WHOLE £1.01 refund

Drinks are on me!!!

I just picked up the thing and it was straight off to hospital. Loads of tests later it looks like i've got Kidneysstoppedworking Disease. Which is disappointing. Had a whole raft of tests and am now just waiting for them to grow new life forms from my blood and various other bodily fluids they harvested (to sell on ebay) to get the results. The disappointing and upsetting part is they want me in for a kidney biopsy which is more hospital more surgery more of everything i don't want. Booooooo

On the upside pork sandwiches have been Officially allowed back onto the menu and even the odd glass of prosecco is allowed *plans to get drunk in the near future next time i go to sainsburys*

That's about it really am knackered and alternately switching from to
Hope you are all well, now meat has returned t the menu i'll be round for cheats roast dinner tk i'll pick up Twass on the way

YIPPPEEE! You're back And while it's good news regarding the laptop it's rubbish concerning the kidneys I hope you can post from the hospital to keep us updated. Have they said the dreaded D word yet??

Spoiler
DIALYSIS

We knew you needed protein!! It must be had in large amounts washed down with plenty of the sparkly stuff. Pick me up as soon as you're ready and we'll trek off to tk's for a lion like gorging sesh Good job you are used to driving hundreds of miles, eh!!
