Not exactly...the sea was iron grey and threatening looking under a leaden sky, and a sharp wind blew onland from it, but we nipped off smartish to the cafe and stayed in there feeding our faces for a couple of hours, before nipping smartish back to the car and back home to light the fire!

I've dug out all my winter clothes and packed away the summer stuff. Seven months or so of woollens coming up!

oh well a day of stuffing yourselves is just as good was it a tribute stuff to celebrate the return of Chins?

It's depressing innit? have had to close the windows and shut the back door
Gone are the strawberries for breakfast replaced by porridge

good job i knitted all those jumpers while i was trapped in bed! i designed one with sleeves that go to the elbow so i could wash up without getting wet sleeves

it's a grey rainy day here ideally i should be eating crumpets and watching a cary grant film!

It should really have been a chins stuff but it was more a ladies do very late lunch

It's now a glorious sunny afternoon after a miserable wet and grey start. I stuck some washing out an hour back and hoping it may dry before the light starts fading...

I used to have an elbow length jumper knitted of very thick wool....I actually knitted it and I am not a knitter! It was many years ago...wonder what happened to it A lot of my thicker cardigans and jumpers do look a wee bit elderly I noticed as I took them out of the suitcase.....time to pension off a few and maybe purchase something big, thick and aran knit in a go with everything shade of greyish beige

Winter afternoons are made for crumpets and old fillums!! When will you be getting your GOT back?

ooo i have to say i do like a Ladies Do Late Lunch myself.....still drooling over my roast pork from a couple of weekends ago

my jumpers are newly knitted and unworn i knitted a dress too

not sure when Winter is COming haven't heard from my bro for a while sent him a text but he has a habit of going off grid and being incommunicado. will of course let you immediately it arrives...if i ever see it again

Seeing as time is short, i've been thinking i should pull my finger out and stop putting off writing a novel to "some day" and actually start doing it.... it's a bit scary though

Time may not be so very short. But then, time is a relative concept You should embrace that novel and give yourself to writing it with full appreciation!! Having the brand new laptop should help with that...but back it up on a fiddly stick as you write in case of techno-catastophes

I do wish I could properly knit, I haven't really much idea at all as to how to. That jumper was done on jumbo needles and in plain stitch and was basically a T shape. It looked like a five year old had knitted it My nanna could knit fantastically and she didn't use patterns or even look at her hands, it just HAPPENED really fast!

Your bro needs sorting out!!! We need to have winter afternoons of gore and sauciness!

my biggest problem is every time i come online to research some random thing i end up spending hours reading totally unrelated bollox getting totally distracted or arguing about some meaningless crap in a thread I must become more disciplined

i don't know how to read patterns (is that what you mean by properly knit?) but a nice lady taught me how to do the basics (knit, purl, cast off and on) in hospital and i became totally addicted I'd be wheeled off to theatre and i'd be knitting away trouble is i learnt to knit lying horizontal and i can't get the hang of doing it sitting upright maybe you need to lie down to get your knitting happening? then i taught myself circular things when i wanted to make hats without seams! when i got bored of scarves, snoods and hats i just went "i'll do a dress now" and so i worked it out as i went along! turned out quite good! i've got a photo but i haven't uploaded my photos to this lappy yet! oh wait i've just found one on facebook i'll send you a Pm with a link! you will see i overestimated how big i was!

Yeah maybe i'll get GoT for christmas?!

Just seen the dress, I am well jell!!! IT'S FABULOUS! Amazing what can be achieved while horizontal And no pattern.....I am totally envious.

I know how it is when you intend to do a job and get suckered into the delights of the internet instead. Story of my life The internet is a life hoover and very hard to step away once hooked!

Christmas is a long time away. Tell your bro you need it for Samhain. [Halloween ]

THe joke was that I'm about to be very old so I am transitioning into old people colours......... NOT! Sat here in black, purple and orange currently. There is no beige in my wardrobe. Maybe in another 20 years

Where is Cleveleys when it's at home?? And didn't trams die out in about 1911???
