Just about caught up, Mr tk was working up the country today so we have had a very late dinner/supper.
Re the awkward phone calls, I have a family member like that. I have to grit my teeth to make it, nothing but the new cars, exotic hollies, spa visits etc. She never seems happy though. And gets annoyed when I won't play her game (delighted with our cheapo week in Lanzarote, perfectly happy with our 8 year old second hand car, etc etc) the awful thing is her husband survived cancer a few years ago, and all she could talk about was the very expensive private clinic he was treated in. As in, she could pick up the phone and have room service.

It just goes to show that money doesn't bring contentment. My cousin also has private healthcare. But she moaned at some length about the doctor!

You get to a stage when material stuff does not matter anymore. (Actually never did for Mr tk and I, but we had to take on the farm to please his late parents. You never own it, but safeguard it for the next generation). Tkjr has a decent job, his independence and no interest in taking it on. Which we are both happy with. I'm sure a cousin will come along. It's weird isn't it? The people i hear moan the most are the ones with the most money and luxury stuff. The ones with bugger all are much more positive and uplifting; you can't buy the stiff that makes me happy like all the lovliness of the changing seasons (i could do without 7 months of winter though) it's the free stuff that feeds the soul!!

It's never too early. I feel sorry for folks with too much, because they seem never satisfied and don't value the things that really matter any more. I even love the Winter although it is hard and long. Remind me of this when I am trudging through the frost to the wood shed to lug bagloads of wood to the house
