Hiya twass, lovely day here, sunny and crisp. You are having a good time gallivanting! Enjoy yourself
I dearly love a gallivant

Read an extract of Pond, the short stories hoppy was urging planets to read. Very well written, quirky and certainly one for logophiles everywhere! However I don't intend on parting up with the eight quid it would cost in Kindle form when there are so many stonking e-books out there for a fraction of that cost if not completely free So I've just bought one on the Goddess Elen of the Trackways and British Shamanism for less than two squid.

Just catching up! Glad your gig was good!
I've just bought a big load of wool today to start knitting some christmas stocking fillers as knitting is very relaxing and keeps me in a zen like state

trouble is you can't knit and post ...i need four hands...any chance i can have some octopus DNA added so i can improve my multitasking?
You might as well. They have tried everything else. Perhaps an animal made essentially of tubing will do you the power of good!. Am 3 pages back reading up but hope you fare well P. And everyone else as well of course.

I have been away helping my Mum celebrate her birthday. We decided to push the boat out as it was a significant number and ended up with 5 days worth of celebrations. Just an excuse to have the family together really.

Ooooo perfect ! i've got three cowls to knit so it would mean i could post as well
I've bought a little notebook to write down all the stitch pattern thingies i invented - as you can see i know all the technical terms

I'll be sure to bring the prosecco in here for everyone if i open some it's so bloody cold it's more cup of tea at the moment!!
Have you got a clear sky to see the shooting stars? it's cloudy here
Have you met some monks? Or are you just getting a bit carried away with the Viking obsession again?

That's just how a birthday should be celebrated. Reaching a ripe old age is something to be proud of when celebrities are popping their clogs in their 50s Glad your mum had such a fabulous time!

What was the birthday cake like?

Interesting. My sister organised it. It was made and iced by one of her colleagues who is Polish. It was sponge but slightly diffrent to what we might make but delicious. It also had a sort of creamy layer where we would use marzipan as a base for icing. The decoration was fondant icing with flowers made from sugar paste.

My sister asked for spring flowers and showed the woman who made it a picture of the sort of thing she had in mind. That was when it became interesting. The 'spring' flowers included daffodils, daisies, cornflowers and poppies. So not all technically spring. But the funny ones were the poppies. It seems she modelled them on the sort of poppy one wears on Nov 11th. So rather than them being a representation of the flower they were a representation of the representation, complete with a black disc in the centre. But it looked very pretty.

I'm sure it looked fab and if it tasted great as well, so much the better. I had a slice of birthday cake made by a Lithuanian lady this summer, that too had the cream layer you refer to and then a fondant icing top. The sponge was light as air. Then it had what seemed like a very thin layer of pastry on the bottom But it was delicious.

Well yes, you can't go wrong really! For some reason last year I left it really late to buy biccies/chocs and they were all gone

Aha, late Nov/early Dec we make our shopping trip north of the border. Pick up loads of treats in M&S, proper treat.

An irish version or the one that goes out here. Its strangely compulsive viewing I have to admit.

Haha, we like the UK one, so were worried about the Irish one. But it's good.

I'd hope for nothing less for myself And I hope the wake was joyful as they so often end up being. Always better to celebrate the life rather than mourn the death.

YAY for roast pork, planets! Sorry to hear about the pukingness.....I will try to work a little healing magic for you

Afternoon ladies!
Well finally back and just had lunch *licks roast pork covered lips* glad the wake went well tk, it's very touching when so many people come to express their grief. I agree with Twass too there was much laughter at my dad's wake/

i accidentally bought some Thornton's Chocolate Brownies on the way back from the hospital don't know if anyone has any room for a little afternoon tea.

it wasn't raining today *faints* and no rain clouds either but on the way back there was this rectangular section of rainbow right in the middle of a clear blue sky most unusual but i'm such a child i always get very smiley at a rainbow

hope you are already for samhain celebrations (they surely MUST involve a chocolate brownie or two? ) oh and your casting has certainly lessened my Linda Blairness keep at it *big thumbs up*
