Thank *** for that. Sealed his ranking.

To get No 1 from a bye and then not win would have been a bit hollow I think.

Funny looking trophy. Althoguh quite handy at this time of year. Add a few baubles and some lights and he won't need to buy a tree.

Oh wow I haven't had boiled fruit cake (boiled cake we called it) in 25 years. My mum used to make it every week but not for years now.

I woudl tread carefully if I were you. You may end up boiled and in a cake.

Mum used to make it often, as did her mum! I've made it for years

Not at all! It is just a moist fruit cake. The boiled bit is that the first stage is to heat up the butter or marge, dried fruit, water or juice and sugar in a saucepan and cook for a bit, which makes the fruit very soft and juicy. You let it get cold before adding the flour etc. Makes a very moist fruitcake, not as heavy as a crimbo cake, a lighter fruit cake

Once again you have come up only after I posted.!

Yes the 'boiled' cake was a staple in our house.

I'd better make a second one since it's proving so popular! Mum used to alternate between a boiled fruit cake and a sponge of some sort. It was always one or t'other

Cor, that was an exciting episode. I thoroughly enjoyed Ross giving that smug git a thrashing. Shame he didn't fry his odious face on that fireplace!

lovely to see Dr Ennis get his girl and for the reconciliation of mr and mrs ross at the end.

all those clips after does that mean they've filmed lots of series 3 already?

oh i forgot to say, i don't remember loathing Elizabeth this much in the previous version or the books maybe i blanked it out?
she drives me nuts though

is it the character or is it that the actress is terrible and only has one expression that looks like female Zoolander?

Elizabeth in the previous series and in the books is a weak insipid character so she's got that right. The last Elizabeth was truer to the books though. You can't ever imagine Ross preferring her to Demelza for a nanosecond. This one's just so BLAND.

i keep expecting her to turn to the camera and say "water is the essence of wetness and wetness is the essence of beauty"

george's eyelids annoy me too perfect for the role of course

this permanent nausea business is making me a bit crotchety

i'm with you on the can't imagine Ross preferring Elizabeth to Demelza i thought they got round that with his little speech rather nicely.

The nausea is STILL a thing? Sheesh that must be so draining Hopefully you are able to eat and hang on to your food though. Have you binge watched all of GOT yet?

I'll read your reply in the morning, I will turn into a pumpkin in 3 2 1
