That's them! Though nowadays it's kids singing and looking for sweets and coins.
Excellent!
We have the crow men who dance through the dale in May and up the dale they have a thing on new year's where the men of the village walk around the village with living fire then take each house in the village a flame for their hearth.

i love these old traditions!!!

Hope you and mrtk enjoyed your christmas! It's been snowing a bit north of us and connor has been blowing, hope you are warm and snuggly!
I used to live near a village called Abbots Bromley, where each September they carry out a ritual called the horn dance. They tell us it dates back to the middle ages. I have seen it a number of times. The narrative is unfathomable and the antics are nonsensical....oh and its not a dance in any reasonable interpretation of the word although some of the 'dancers' do carry around deer antlers. It does involve a lot of visiting of public houses and even more beer. I suspect it is little more than an elaborate excuse for a pub crawl

I love old traditions.....oddly enough I had just been reading an account of the wren boys elsewhere! Many possible reasons given for why the wren was hunted and killed [although today I am sure this no longer happens].

Hiya twass, no actual wrens are harmed nowadays!

Hope the leftovers are going well, I'm leaving some turkey and ham in the safe with forcefield up to max.

I was really concerned for Nick in the late 80's. Thankfully all has been well (apart from the tragic incident with his son).

That was horrendous. I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to The Skeleton Tree in case it's too sad
I adore Nick Cave.
I adored Bowie and Prince and George.
I only have Nick Keith and Roger Eno left and poor Roger had a terrible accident a few years back which meant he lost his memory

When we went to the nearby seaside town she ran past all the butchers with her scarf over her face

There are about five butchers in Whitstable as well!! Old fashioned ones

I couldn't do that with herself in tow And now I have a blooming cough and cold, so will have to wait a day or two to go hunting. A lot of folk seem to have a second turkey dinner on New Year's day so you never know. I will be crawling off to bed shortly, very little kip last night what with coughing and fevering
