I'm a lot better thank you nurse planets! Your excellent ministrations mean I should be able to get up in a week. Or two.
*slurps turkey broth with many lip smackings* And how are you after breaking doctor's orders for a week eating whatever the heck you like?

*slurps turkey broth with many lip smackings* And how are you after breaking doctor's orders for a week eating whatever the heck you like? ![]() ![]() well to be honest i stopped taking blood pressure and all that bollox over christmas (there were a few unexpected bp raising events so i thought it best not to measure cos then i'd worry more!) so i could be worse but i don't know so i don't feel too bad ![]() however i f'e'cked my back up royally just before christmas eve and have been somewhat incapacitated. Still now i'm back home i don't have to spend hours washing up and stuff so just lying about last night things have eased a bit. I am trying experimental therapies now and shall report my finding s to my nephrologist in the New Year. I suspect my chocolate orange therapy will ease things even more, as will me Tea and Christmas Cake daily therapy sessions; i've not taken any morphine for 24 hours so i can have a gin and tonic to welcome the new year in!! ![]() Gin is apparently good for the kidneys who knew?!

I knew! As a gin fan, it's actually rather good for you in moderation. Add tonic, and the quinine in that will help with attacks of cramp
I've not opened the posh bottle of lavender gin my son gave me for crimbo yet...or the marmite popcorn! He knows what I likes ![]() I think it's probably done you the world of good to not be faffing about with BP etc. I feel sure if you take the BP and get a less than good reading, it shoots up about another ten degrees due to stress. Better off not knowing. Think calm thoughts and try not to eat too many salty things. Hopefully your back will improve no end without the hours of kitchen duties ![]() I'm sure your nephrologist could learn a thing or two from pork therapy, chocolate orange therapy....have you tried christmas pud and brandy butter therapy yet?? |

Afternoon all back from the obligatory funeral this morning, it's pouring down and The Eagle Has Landed is on BBC2 . It's not Christmas until I've watched that.

Hi Sillies
How are you all? That was silly getting ill between Christmas and new year Twass, It seems you are on the mend - rejoices with port and stollen. And Planet's silly medical history seems to have had the happy side effect of being a crash course in nursing so rejoicing that too *slurp, munch*. And TK seems to have got through the season without any funerals - so I will rejoice that too *slurp, munch, slurp, munch*![]() I am sick and tired of people dying lately. All the famous ones, plus 4 people I know have died in the days before Christmas. Fortunately all neighbours or relatives of friends rather than my own bereavements but still sad for them. One in particular is in one of those families that seem to have more than their fair share of bad luck. Husband has Parkinsons and Alzimers, grown up daughter has MS, another grown up child has schizophrenia and the family all depends on the Mum. So guess who he who allegedly performs his wonders so mysteriously decided to call. Yep Mum - she died quite suddenly less that 2 weeks before Christmas. God kow how they will manage now. So I am slurping again in celebration of my own good fortune. And finally celebrating Aldi's post Christmas reductions - ordinary stollen 99p, ordinary Christmas pud 99p. posh stollen - nuts on top £1.50, mice pies 49p for 6, baklava £1.99 etc etc. SO have bought heaps enough even to make Chins sick so help yourselves everyone. How long to go before midnight?

I have no idea how they will manage. She was at my Mum's birthday party in late October and we remarked on how well she looked and she seemed cheerful and healthy. Then less than 40 days later - gone. She had pancreatic cancer although nobody knew it until the end of November.
