5.15 the angels have gone

5:15
Train overdue
Angels have gone
We never talk anymore
Forever I will adore you
Cold station

A lot of his lyrics now sound so poignant after his death

I was supposed to be keeping my eyes peeled and didn't see BBC2 tomorrow! Have put it in diary, also 13th, and see I'm out for my yearly pre-birthday night out that night (I'd forgotten) meal at a nice restaurant and night in nearby hotel. Last year man with a guitar in hotel bar played mainly Bowie. And next morning I went looking for a fjord? Looked like almost every bit of coastline round here, but geologically speaking it's the only official one here.

Don't rely on me. About to have a hot toddy and watch CBB, so farewell to last brain cells. Thought an epsom salts footbath would help. Made it with Lidl stain remover.

I only caught it quite by chance tk i turned the telly on to eat my dinner with it in the background and the telly was on BBC1 just as they introduced Earl Slick!!! - i never would have watched the One SHow other than that fluke of timing!!!

I remember you going looking for the fjord!!!! Are you going to the same hotel this year ?

It's amazing how many memories we all have that are completely tied to music

i know.
i can never understand the people who don't understand why people are upset when a beloved musician dies. They always turn up on RIP threads moaning.

i have such clear memories of singing All the Young Dudes along with Bowie at the gig and looking at my mate next to me and we were both so happy beyond words he was in tears of joy!! That memory is because of Bowie.

Bowie is so tied in with my childhood and early adolescence. He was hugely influential to so many. My Kieran dressed as him as the thin white duke when he was young. He's touched us all! When we heard of his death it was like losing a friend. Some folks are all like, you didn't know him. BUT WE DID.

yeah like you i'd grown up with him, from early teenage first getting into music, most of my Bowie albums are on vinyl! (andy warhol looks a scream hanging on my waaaaaaaaalll) countless memories of driving around (like you do when young and free!) madly singing in the car with friends in the middle of the night going and getting bagels at 3am in Brick Lane....so many memories of friends ...you bond with people over liking the same music, you go to gigs together you get off your face and dance round the living room together.
The phrase "the soundtrack of my life" isn't just a cliche it's an accurate description...

Prince was another big one for me. I saw him live 5 times and like Bowie he was flawless live just incredible. I have a purple tambourine he threw into the audience during the Lovesexy tour the singer from Dexys midnight runners was sitting next to me one night and he was loving it we were dancing like crazy the whole night and that way of bonding with complete strangers in those situations where you look at each other and say without words "this is f'e'cking amaaaaaaaaaaaazing"

Oh yes, for a big chunk of years [well, my marriage] I was virtually unable to go to any concerts or gigs. We won't go into that, it's in the past, he's ex Mr Twass for many reasons. But I am making up for it now and yes, we always bond with the audience members we're with and have a ball. Especially at the festivals!

I was never a fan of Prince although I appreciate his amazing musicianship.

Until i saw him live i liked a few songs but the first time i saw him live i was blown away i took four days off work and queued at wembley every day all day until 6pm for more tickets
worth it though i got front row every time

i have some superb festival memories!!! (the toilet fairies giving me a present of finding an unopened quarter of skunk in the grass on the way to the toilet of horror) and subsequently getting off my face to see Robert Fripp then after Fripp finished there was this terrible Dj on while they changed bands and i remember the guys behind us laughing their arses off because of me and my mate going "oh no man this is terrible he's totally killing my frippertronic vibe man"

*sighs*
my brother is a musician and i met quite a few through him so i got used to chatting away quite happily to them, my bro was on the same bill as jeff buckley it was one of his first pro gigs and i have the flyer framed in my spare room!!
i have such a fondness for musicians.

Festivals do sometimes provide unexpected presents I've had hats, t shirts, glow sticks and rather a lot of E's in the grass..... That one was the total E festival, all these complete strangers kept coming up and embracing us and saying how much they loved us

i will admit to being totally jammy and getting free admission to festivals through working as a feature maker for festival radio so not only did i get to go to all the best gigs i had my wee pass and special access all areas wristband and would organise interviewing all my favourite musicians weeks beforehand that was the life.
