In answer to the questions out there >>>>>>>>>>
Sumerians i think the earliest writing was found at Ur.
Lapis Lazuli, blue signified Mary and the church controlled who could use it and when by maintaining its high price. Titian defied convention in 1520 and went crazy on Bacchus and Ariadne ......
Umami
yes - you were right on the sex question
Lapis Lazuli was what I was trying to think of. I could only think of gentian for some reason.

The Arctic Gentian is the Flower of Teesdale!!! it's blue!

it was quite hard coming up with random questions!!!

I kind of miss books....i have this great book at home called Brewers Phrase and Fable and it's a reference book that you can lose a whole evening going from one random thing to the other in looking up greek myths of elizabethan phrases .....i love it

I love Lapis Lazuli Stones, I think it should be the stone of the sillies thread ... it represents friendship, truth and wisdom .. very apt me thinks, along with being a stunning shade of blue.

Waves to moose .. great to see you back ... the mini giraffes (is that an oxymoron or am I just renaming myself) are the cutest and the resemblance between you and your sis is uncanny.

I went in search of sea change last night. I went to write it and as usual hesitated wondering if it is sea change or if it coud be C change. As usual it turns out to be Shakespearean.

I asked the question 'Who sports the greatest ever mustache' in another thread earlier and was given the answer 'Daley Thompson'.

Now, that's a very good answer but I have a slight niggle at the base of my brain telling me that other mustaches could compete for that honour. Magnum PI and Salvador Dali being just two.

Could you good folk please assuage my doubts and confirm definitively who sports the greatest ever mustache.

Well I am not expert Picto. I dislike any facial hair, expcailly on women! I can juts about tolerat a little designer stubble on a man I am not expected to touch or kiss.

But tI think you might have primed people to look for sports personality examples ratherthan trawelling a wider net.

For me the only man who I like with full facial hair is Santa. Now he would look plain silly clean shaven.

I know. Watching Downton is like taking a drive down the M1 every forthcoming 'attraction' is signposted a hundred miles away. I am also suprised at how wooden the acting is at times. Its a good cast so it can't be all down to the performance. As I seem to remember a blue chip actor once saying, you are only as good as the words you get given.

I haven't watched a single episode of Downton. What's it all about, does it contain any epic space battles, scantily clad women or giant robots. If not then I don't see what it can offer me.

You've missed out Picto!
It's very like Battlestar Galactica (the reboot version) but with a lovely red sofa and corners.
