such a great image isn't it? you can really imagine how scary that would be if you had no knowledge of sailing or other lands etc

it's great isn't it? i found watching it again very interesting seeing details little looks and things that make so much sense when you know what happens. I love it when people make things that don't diminish on multiple watches, but improves. love it!

Yes, foreknowledge is a wonderful thing....watching this time like you I saw nuances, behaviours, etc that I missed the first time around.

i think one of the things i really like is how three dimensional everyone is, different facets to their character, bits you like, bits you don't, much like real life! very well written in that regard.

i forgot to add i'm not sure how tk is watching .

That's very true! They are very human, very real. You can entirely believe in them as characters. Of them all Floki is the most complex and interesting only seconded by Ragnar himself. The brainiest pair of the Vikings

Well. Son, when setting up his house last year needed a cable and I foolishly told him to take ours (I hadn't watched a DVD in a couple of years) and forgot all about it until today. And the disc drive in the pc is knackered.

So I watched Beowulf (bit confused) then googled watch Vikings and success! I have now seen s1 ep 1 !!!! and I am going to love it every bit as much as you two. It's got everything hasn't it, with added Gabriel Byrne.

Flipping heck, haven't watched so much in years; a new drama about the 1916 rebellion started tonight and it's not bad. One of my favourite books is Rebels by Peter de Rosa, now bed is calling. Night all

I did, they spent a very great deal of money on it.....sumptuous to look at...I remember the old TV series which I watched aged about 11 and then read the book.

sumptuous is the word!! apparently they even got to shoot in the winter palace (at great cost) for a few days! t looked gorgeous. I have a very vague memory of the old one, it was very cardboardy i can't remember the acting though, so it might have been like I Claudius where the sets were cardboard but the acting was superb so you didn't care!

It was done very well as I recall and the acting was superb. I'm surprised they were allowed access to film, but the whole thing looks amazing. Worth watching for the spectacle alone. The battle scenes were brilliant!

WITH google translate (which is probably less accurate ) i get
"I have gone " all German spy " for the New Year !"
