I want to see it axed because it has been so good and I don't want to see it drag on and on as a shadow of it's former self, ala Big Brother.
They got 10 decent series out of it - it actually held up relatively well in the years Simon was away but since he returned the ratings are freefalling and the show clearly can't identify it's problems and rectify them. The show has lost the little authenticity it used to have, as the loose interpretation of the themes in the live shows so far really do highlight. It doesn't help that the judges have changed every year for six years - Strictly and BGT have both benefitted from consistency and X Factor is now in a position where they've a judging panel that doesn't work, but changing it again won't do it any favours either. As much as Louis Walsh was long overdue the axe they really should have kept him and Mel B this year just to give the show a bit of stability. All that said The Voice isn't the answer either - and ITV shouldn't be commissioning shows out of spite. Now they've bought Talpa if they did want their own show to replace The X Factor they should have worked with Talpa to create a "new" format rather than taking one that's never really taken off anyway. |
