Did Dan genuinely believe he was getting married, or did he spend the day speculating that it's another twist BB are trying to catch him out with?

Well first of all it's not really "another bb wedding" or BB relationship bearing in mind they were not a couple in the house, were not even housemates together and have pretty much kept their relationship private and out of the spotlight. I would say it's more comparable to meeting and forming a relationship with someone via work.

That aside, they've been been together over 2 years already and I can see absolutely no reason to believe that their relationship/marriage will not last, no more than any other couple anyway, BB related or otherwise.

Anyway, huge congratulations to them.

Finally some positivity, it's like other people WANT them to fail.
