Gus

Why isn't this red herring wrapped up yet?

I'm kinda puzzled that it all started from 2010, and 5 years on, we've had one episode to introduce us why The Doctor was putting off the Orient Express Train in Space, yet since The Mummy on the Orient Express aired and gone, and now we're on Series 9. Nothing has been mentioned yet about who or what Gus is?

Is this another one of Moffat's long arcs that he doesn't finish? What was it? Pandorica for 11, The Silence for 11, then they became sort of a joke at the end of 11's Life. Then the Phone call from The Big Bang... I think that was actually to be meant for Matt Smith's Doctor but he left too early. So GUS for 12...

It needs to be explained, is he part of some big plot in another 5 years time? the slowest introduction to a Doctor Who Villain since the revival. aha ideas anyone?

You could start a poll about it.

We never found out who he was working for though.

Not that we need to of course.

How did the Pandorica and the Silence become jokes?

The Silence were shown to not be immune to Dalek conversion. That doesn't make them a joke, they would defeat most other enemies (probably anyone but the Weeping Angels, who would send them back in time, and the Doctor).

Where's the poll? Where's the spite?

Seriously? If some of you are going to act like childish tossers all your life then you shouldn't be on the Internet. Bloody polls, screw off.

Answering your question, there's nothing unusual about characters not being explained until some time afterwards. The Face of Boe wasn't addressed until significantly later from his first appearance for example.

The Zygon 2 parter follows on from Day of the Doctor 2 years ago, to me it was more effective with the gap.

Finally, GUS was introduced in a Jamie Mathieson episode, maybe it's up to HIM when he comes back

Seems likely that GUS was part of Missy''s dastardly plan and maybe her first foray into messing with the dead to get at The Doctor. Sebastos, was the Greek translation of Augustus so there is a link between Seb and GUS as Artificial Intelligences...
