Ok, re watched both (any excuse) Georgia's face was better than I remembered (just dropped occasionally) and Jays was better than expected from all the comments.
Happy Sunday everyone

Yes, I agree too. Helen is gorgeous and talented but her hip action is not improving.
Jay did mostly seem to be walking. I was expecting something amazing and it was 'just' good IMO. Think Aljaz has put in a Herculean effort to hide how static her hips actually are

Len was totally right about the rumba. The fan did go nowhere lol. And I totally couldn't agree with Craig about preferring some balletic move to a hockey stick or alemana, when she was assigned a rumba. Sure, you can pick and choose what rumba steps you want to include but Helen's rumba lacked a lot of steps. I only recognised some rumba walks, a few opening outs and the fan. The rest was just posing really. And Len was being kind in not mentioning the lack of hip action/cuban motion which was obvious for all to see.
Darcey must have a soft spot for her. Normally she would mention that for Latin, you need to get into the ground more. Helen was so high up, no doubt because of her ballet background. It was too balletic. |

Jay lead volcadas with embellishments; danced planeos; two sacadas; male tango footwork including enrosques, pique, lapi; led Aliona in her intricate moves and did two complicated lifts effortlessly.
I can saunter, but I can't do that. I'm no AT expert by any stretch of the imagination but I can think of at least three top couples dancing who rarely have male ganchos in their routines at all. |
