He definitely has charm, but Anita and Jeremy are expert communicators. They should be, they do it for a living.

You either connect with him or you don't.”

Yes, exactly

But isn't the man supposed to look distant in the AT?

I actually blame Aliona for the rumours based on her interaction with Jay. She is the professional but has come across at times as a teenager with a crush. I hope she hasn't left it too late to build a constructive and professional relationship with Jay. I do think he is an amazing dancer by the way.

It's the same as he got last week so at least he's consistent

I don't dislike Jay but he is not winner material (just in my opinion). I fear he may win the contest due to alot of lady viewers swooning over him which wouldn't be fair.

I think it was stated on SCD this week that a couple to do the perfect Argentine Tango that you have to be quite small...like Vincent and Flavia...when you consider how tall Jay is and how small Aliona is I think he did really well.

I actually put mark ramps arg tango on to compare. There is no comparison, Marks sizzled and the choreography was just amazing. Worth having a look at if you haven't seen it in a while. (Quite a raunchy AT actually!)

I will be voting for him as I think he is the best dancer...not the fact that I am a female and swooning over him.

I agree that Jay and his journey are nailed on to win exactly as Louis Smith was.

I agree that he just seemed to be walking around - good walking (if you know what I mean) but really not enough for him to do. If I remember correctly the AT is very much lead by the man and this didn't seem to be. Not his fault though he was doing what he was given to do.
I don't think any rumours are getting to him but maybe the pressure of expecting him to deliver a spectacular dance every week will.

I don't think it's the rumours. It's just him coming out of his shell. Like I said on another thread, it took me years to let go, so I can totally relate to Jay. Unfortunately Jay only has a matter of weeks and not years to get this right. Aliona has to take him to an acting coach or his scores will really suffer. Characterization and the mood of a specific dance is half the battle. Argentine tango requires such a strong mood and Jay couldn't deliver.
I hate to say it but Aliona's choreography didn't suit him. She hasn't got enough AT content. Ganchos were barely there, it was like she was just dancing around him for a lot of it.
I love Jay. He's got so much potential, but acting is what he needs now.

I still enjoyed that routine, as others have said the expectation has been too high for the poor bloke after that jive, but he is still technically excellent week in week out! I did think though that the choreography could have showcased his talent more than it did, but he did very well and I certainly preferred him to Peter Bloody Andre!

I am aware that it doesn't apply to everyone!

I feel Georgia is the best dancer but I don't mind Jay.

first part of your post before the dots....grow up.

As for the second part... just because you perform and dance doesn't mean you can't be shy - the others are mainly presenters or actors - very different.

I think this is unfair .. it's an assumption. A lot of my male friends and relations are rooting for him. He's just a genuinely nice guy and a lovely dancer.

He IS winner material.

A few of the others are well out shining him now.”

He fizzled rather than sizzled and was very dull again tonight .
The thing with his jive was that he was gifted the absolutely perfect scene setting and wardrobe , not to mention the iconic moves from PF that everyone on planet earth knows . All he needed to do was dance reasonably well to finish things off . Therefore all the hoopla and wonderment and claims that it was a super-duper iconic Strictly moment is misplaced . It's an example of where the right wardrobe/music combo can lift your dance from the ordinary .

I adored Louis and wanted him to win (and no not for swoon worthy reasons! ) but for some reason I just cannot warm to Jay.

He has a tremendous amount of support and I fear him winning is almost a foregone conclusion.

I know its not the majority of his fans but it is true and inevitable, as with all reality shows. The"eye candy" male will get votes for that reason from younger lasses watching the show with their family.

The same is true with good looking ladies naturally but men are less inclined to actually pick up the phone and vote on programmes of this nature.

I don't know him to say whether he is a nice guy or not but I certainly don't dislike him either.
