Faffing about

I have just watched Georgia and Giovanni's Samba back and put a stopwatch on the time it took for any actual dancing to happen.
29.65 seconds!!
Why was this not picked up on?
It is much easier to maintain high energy if it is only required for two thirds of a dance .
I think Georgia is a talented dancer and likeable so don't get me wrong but a third of a routine gone is way too much.
Other couples who danced more and finished with lower scores imo have every right to feel cheesed off.

Totally agree. Len was talking about consistency earlier, so why did he turn a blind eye?

I entirely agree

Len is very inconsistent generally.

It was a very good dance anyway. Carol got lost behind the screen and then walked through the rest of the dance

1 - It was an introduction that actually matched the time of the song. They started dancing when the song "started" if you get my drift

2 - The rest of their routine they danced at the speed of the light and probably did more steps than all the other couples put together.

The end!

Interesting. I didn't notice faffing about on this occassion.

* Note to self - pay attention! *

As much as I love Team GG I have to agree. Thought Kellie & Kevin were guilty of this too tonight.

Georgia's coffee break, Anita wringing the cloths, Kellie packing, Jeremy's horse- they're all stuck with something. I don't know why.
I don't imagine the pro's want it.

All the pros do it .

Any dancer called a professional should be able to fill 90 sec with dance, without all the time wasting .

I can't believe you counted the introduction with a stopwatch???

I felt there was an element of faff myself. I have seen couples take too long with "the storyline" element of the dance every year though so its hardly new though.

It was the performance of the night all the same

But the pro's create these scenarios when they choreograph the routine surely? I agree, it can be annoying when overdone.

^ this ^

All couples did some "faffing about" tonight, funnily the OP picked up only on Georgia...

Maybe upset because she did better than their favourite?

There was faffing, but the actual dance was incredible.

The OP actually gave Georgia a 5 in the "your scores" thread

It's entirely natural for people to have their favourites, but it's also equally annoying when they start threadbashing other contestants because their favourite didn't do so well.

Yawn...

Why not, it was a good point well made and supported by statistics

I don't have a favourite per se .
My favourite couple each week has been different every single week.
I was merely pointing out an excessive amount of faffing compared to other faffing time frames.

A 5?

No, I am sorry that is just daft! Katie I would have attributed a five, sadly she made some errors and it was a shame.

This would presumably be why so many dances look content-lite, finish before they really get going and yet still receive surprisingly good marks.

Pasha and Carole must have faffed around for 30 seconds too. I thought she'd never get that mac off and actually start dancing

I actually liked the 'faffing about' in Georgia's dance, it set the scene really well I thought....

I agree. Most of the time when it happens I'm thinking "oh god, what horror awaits if the pro is keeping the celeb from dancing for this long?".

But with Georgia, it was telling the story, and I felt something amazing coming!

Me too and it fit in well with the music so didn't seem at all like time wasting. The rest of the dance was at such high speed that it more than made up for it! Loved it!
