Kellie and Kevins music had an 8 bar introduction, and Kevin used this correctly for his intro , he immediately started the routine afterwards. The Pro has to choreograph to how the the music is phrased. Looks fine to me.

There was faffing, but the actual dance was incredible.

The OP actually gave Georgia a 5 in the "your scores" thread ”

I don't have any favourites (apart from Carol needs to go). I thought the same as OP, although others did faff around G&G seemed to be much longer and were the ones who I commented on.

I don't have anything against Georgia, but her intro really took a while before the dancing began. I think if anything, perhaps it didn't help that she was sitting down drinking her coffee or something the whole time. I think a differently choreographed introduction would have been better.

That being said, she did kinda make up for it with full on dancing and lots of samba content when she got going. So overall it was fine. I was surprised that Len didn't complain about the long intro though. Maybe he has a soft spot for Team GG.

They could not have started their Samba any earlier than they did, because of the way the music had been edited. The intro - too long and slow - had no Samba timing. It was only when the speed of the music picked up and the vocals came in, that they could start. Should / could have edited the music differently. Giovanni had no choice here.

I think it would have been very easy to deal with the slow intro without resorting to pretendy cups of coffee.

Why not just construct an opening segment of dance with a slow tempo (doesn't have to be samba steps as long as it provides a lead into the story) and then just burst into the samba moves as soon as the music picks up.

I can't see that the intro they did lent anything to the performance anyway - and judging by the comments on here, it detracted from it instead.

I loved their dance, and clearly from timings posted by bendy mixer they didn't have the longest intro.

It felt like the did though probably due to the fact that barely anything happened during the faffing.

I accept the music edit meant they couldn't get into the dance for a while but that was still Giovannis choreo and I was just thinking "get on with it"

That said I loved loved it once they got into the dancing.

I agree. In Kevin and Kellie's paso last week they had an intro of non-paso music but they still did dance movement to it - making shapes and lines that set up the dance. There was no need to just sit drinking coffee.

A long, faffy intro is usually when the celeb isn't very good and a way to waste time.

That's not the case with Georgia as she is very good so I felt a little cheated.

Some sort of dancing for the first 30 seconds would have been better. Or if the music had been more skilfully arranged.

Once she started it was great and certainly one of the best sambas I've seen on SCD.

He had to wait until the intro had finished - when the music picks up speed and vocals start.”

Thanks for explaining this so well. Shame some people really don't want to understand that.

Regardless of how many bars the intro had etc I'm talking about how it felt as a viewer. It may have looked fine to you - to me it didn't. But aside from that I did actually enjoy their performance.

Thankks for this Bendymixer. I do love posters who put in this sort of effort.

I did think there was a lot of faffing this week, the one that irritated me the most was Jeremy on the big plastic horse!

Kevin and Kellie's faffing was irritating as well, especially as the words of the song had nothing to do with moving house. I'm not usually that literal minded about it, but it did seem a very strong storyline to set up when it didn't really match the lyrics.

I cannot stand it anymore.

The worst last night was Carol, Kelly and Georgia. Kelly and Georgia were even more annoying as they can actually dance, so to me it is such a wasted part of the time to not be dancing.

Also props, Jamelia and Tristan, if the prop is in the way of the dance there is no point in it being there. The floor space isn't that big that they should have so much of it taken up with fountains and bars.

That seems like something Len would say "Faffing about" so shocked he let that mistake go unpunished.

I remember just last year Len coming down very heavy on timewasters with props, stating he would even knock off points. He said the same for the years before that too as far as I recall. So the question becomes not so much why did so many of the dances have props and 'faffing' going on as to why none of the Judges commented on it?

For theme weeks I would let it slide, but otherwise, really, they should go straight into the dance. If they are any good at all they don't need to set up a scene for us to get the feel of the dance as people have suggested was why team GG did it. A dance is supposed to emote on its own, it shouldn't need accessories to make it feel a certain way, especially not for a dancer with as much talent as Georgia.

I've just rewatched the faffing before G & G start dancing, and realised there's a little story there of Gio fancying her. failing to attract her attention and then pretending to be a waiter. Also the sudden burst of rapid dancing after the faffing was quite effective. I still don't like Kellie and Kevin's 'packing up the house' faffing though, and am generally against it.

I felt a little less faffing going on this week.
Quality upturn.

Oh and while I'm here .
So the op is biased against Georgia is he?
Ah wait a minute that would be I.

So how does 10/10 from me for her Charleston sound then?
I think that says all I need it to.
