Look, I'm not disputing Georgia as a good dancer. She is. But I'm disputing that dance which had too much faffing, no basic steps, and too much modern "look at me I'm young and sexy"
Yes, Georgia's a good dancer. Yes, that was a dreadful Samba. Yes, the judges are inconsistent having marked Helen and Jay down for the same issues! Those three things are not mutually exclusive! |

I thought the leaderboard was roughly right apart from I'd have had Peter below Jay and Georgia
![]() Georgia came out of some of those spins like Pamela Stephenson in her salsa Jay lacked performance Helen lacked any sort of hip movement Anita lacked finesse Kellie lacked posture Jeremy lacked any ability to dance (but loved it )Carol lacked any sort of musicality or rhythm Katie suffered from far too frenetic choreography Jamelia was nice and sweet but forgettable again And Peter? I'd better not start ![]()

How is Georgia supposed to stop those things being evident?

30 seconds sat down, a good 30 seconds shimmying. That's two thirds of the dance not "Pure Samba". The dancing she did do was good, but not nearly enough of it!

![]() I do agree the faffing at the beginning went on a tad too long but that is the pro's decision to include these things so the fault (if it indeed a flaw worth noting ) lies with him.Georgia executed the steps with terrific skill and speed hence the crowd getting to their feet and applauding! I truly hope she is in the final. If she continues to improve further still she certainly deserves to win from a dancing perspective. |

Go on then, identify the Samba steps in that routine.
1) Samba walk 2) Promenade Runs ... No botafogos, no voltas, just shimmying. 4) Batucada at 49 seconds in: http://youtu.be/RJA6_iVSj0o |

As for the absence of the samba roll, it isn't a mandatory step. I've never danced them in my routines. Helen's routine however was low on content and had no hip action. Really really disappointed. Expected much better. |

So did I. Botafogos right at the beginning of the routine. Admit I did not like her batucadas much. She also had promenade runs and samba locks and stationary walks. Probably some other steps too, but I'd have to go back over the video. Enough content though in my view.

How is Georgia second in the leaderboard? She wafted her skirt, did some promenade runs and a samba walk. Helen does no Rumba and gets marks knocked off, Jay gets pulled up for missing steps in his AT, but nation's sweetheart Georgia just shakes and shimmies and gets 9s!
I know I'm late to the party expected the judges scores to reflect the dance in front of them but it was blatant double standards tonight :/ |

I agree the batucadas weren't great, but to say it had little to no content is just odd.

Quite liked it once it got going but by god did that take a long time. Don't know if it deserved 9s but it deserved to be 2nd.
Peter deserved 1st (but I hated it). I think everybody was in the right place but it was my least favourite week yet (and following Halloween that's saying something). |

The fault lies with the pro, but the score should still reflect this. Every moment of faffing about is one less piece of content, one less thing for the celeb to have to train, one less thing for them to remember, one less thing for them to potentially get wrong. Which of course is why the pro's do it, and equally why the couples should get penalised for it when they do.

I mean the side strokes and body ripples as steps, not the fact that Georgia is young and good looking...
She was terrific. Really loose and did very well to keep up with her pro most of the time . She deserved the praise heaped on her , no matter what her age and looks . |

Georgia and Giovanni dance was significantly better than Jay & Aliona (Jay lacked content) and Helen & Aljaz (Helen just a little too static but some interesting leg movement).
