I was told by one of the dancers last year (when it started) that wardrobe had taken to using high street trousers for the males on some occasions Brendan made a comment about them last year about why so many trousers are splitting and that is why pockets are visible because they or ready made, No dance trousers ever have pockets

I think those who moan least seem to be at back of queue for costumes - Vicky Gill needs to get out of head set that smaller dancers should have short ballroom dresses which lets face it have not been worn in ballroom comps since the 70's
I agree with all you say. I think that they tailor (proper mens' dance wear tailor) who used to make the mens' outfits is no longer doing so. However, there's still no real excuse - the company Vicky Gill works for makes mens' practice and Latin trousers so why don't they just use those - at least they would fit properly and have no bl***y pockets.

With so many outfits to make I think VG has too any preconceived ideas of what she will be producing, regardless of whether they are suitable for the dancer wearing them. She is trying to be different (she would probably think 'clever') for the sake of being different, and it just isn't working. When Strictly begins, I would imagine the company's main designers and dressmakers are too busy making dresses for the London Championships, The International, Blackpool - even for next January's UK Champs, to be bothered with a tv show.

I was a bit confused by these outfits and what era they were supposed to be as well as the story. It looked like they were packing up and perhaps splitting up, but if so why were they both looking happy? The song was Love Aint Here Anymore so I was expecting a sad emotional dance but they smiled all through. Is it a requirement in the waltz to smile whatever the music or have I got the story all wrong?

Yes I agree the trousers were dreadful.

The song and the theme were at complete odds, which confused me too.

I liked his trousers very much, sad as I am! In fact I liked both GG's outfits. Kevin had nice trews for his jive

They certainly showed Kevin's bum off, rather nicely!

I agree with most posts.

When she came out I wondered what on earth it was, not for the first time either.
I have now started to woner if she has pissed off the wardrobe and make up and hair department as they keep making her look awful and older, which she doesn't on ITT, so make up are failing her too.

Don't know why Kellie always has her hair in ridiculous old fashioned styles . Makes her look so much older then she is .
Her Star Wars hair and her hair last night was horrible; too severe. They were like between Mrs Lovett's hair in Sweeney Todd and Frau Blucher from Young Frankenstein!

Pasha's trousers were as bad as Kevins . Badly fitting and too tight . I hate that loose flap of trousers that develops in the front, like a flap of loose skin .

I can't remember such appalling ill fitting trousers in the early series . Terrible deterioration of standards by the costume dept .

I think you've hit on a reason why they appeared in the dance-off

Who could appreciate the dance when they were completely distracted by her awful dress and hair.

It's just weird isn't it ? Incoming rant .
Look at that terrible post war style dress in week one . For a tango ? The dress was just so wrong and my heart sank . I thought , "Oh crap , week one and this is what they think a tango outfit should look like " . Everyone else gets slinky sexy gowns, kellie gets a fifties go-to-church drindl skirted dress , high neck, wide white belt and below the knees . For her star wars routine, baggy shirt waister with long hugely puffy restrictive sleeves . Stupid clashing red fringe skirt and pink top combo for her cha cha . Her foxtrot dress was nice to a degree , but looked badly fitted and was weird round the waist . Roxy showgirl skimpy outfit for her jive .For her harry potter dance , spent the whole dance in a figure hiding teacher's gown that flapped around her and hid half her moves . Then that outfit last night .
And DO NOT get me started on her hair . She has good hair and yet they style it really badly . That stupid Heidi hair plait last night was pathetic and even my gran laughed at the foxtrot hair do where you could put your arm through one of her ridiculously exaggerated curls atop her head . I need to calm down , but really , she's getting a bad crack of the whip on there .

Yeah, this is pretty much every thought I have on it.

To be honest I feel really sorry for her. Dance is visual, the costume helps you feel like you connect to it, with dresses like she has, well you ard never going to.

Her hair last night looked half done, like they had braided it for a bit of a curl and was meant to undo it and do somethjng else and her make up looks half done, not to repeat myself, but on ITT her make up is flawless and she looks younger. They do nothing for her. She needs a bit more base and something more with her eyes too.

She has a great figure, yet they cannot dress her to look even slightly decent.

I am not even mentioning her awful props she is stuck with, tbe briefcase ruined her jive, the sabres back again, although they saw sense and removed them from the dance off.

Exactly . It infuriates me that we can't appreciate a celeb because wardrobe dressed them in layer upon layer of unnecessary crap or in something they picked up in the wardrobe dept from an old 50's based telly show .
Kellie needs to start thumping on tables or crying or something , ANYTHING , to get them to dress her properly and stop messing with her hair .

The crease and "loose flap" as you call it is because they are too tight. It happens when a skirt is too tight and the most recent fashion for women, a straight dress. Until she lost some weight, Carol's dresses on breakfast were too tight. They must be uncomfortable to wear.

Hope I don't sound rude, but Kellie's tummy always stick outs. I think it's genetics though, because she isn't chubby at all. You can see it all the time in EastEnders

I always thought that the pro's had a say in the costume

Ive often heard VG say she would see if the pro wanted anything doing with the costume

Kellie has had a string of retro/vintage costumes and I do think that Kevin has a big say in both music and costume as he seems to be stuck in vintage /retro mode

Im still waiting for them to do something to a song from the sound of music

I envision nuns habits and lederhosen or maybe cut up curtains

When my husband saw Kelly's dress he said that it reminded him of our kitchen curtains when we got married in 1975. We were so strapped for cash back then, I was just grateful we had curtains up.

Perhaps I am in a minority, but what is wrong in the man wearing tails and the lady a - peferably full length - ballroom dress ? Just throwing the question out there for all viewers.....as a dancer I suppose I am biased towards proper attire, but do viewers in the main like "costumes" ?
Sometimes it is difficult to appreciate fully what the dancers are doing when you are put off by, or distracted by the awful clothes they wear. I don't think Kellie has been given a proper ballroom dress yet.

Agree. I remember a few years ago someone saying their professional partner had explained to wardrobe what they wanted to convey with the costumes & that they were a bit nervous about what to expect.

The trousers are awful & seem to be part of a job lot bought to try & be 'trendy' for the younger male celebrities.

I agree. As an example Jamelia looked lovely on Saturday. Her dress was elegant and classy (and I'm a sucker for those fluffy feathers they sew along the bottom ).

I know he gets a lot of criticism on here but Brendan often wears lovely outfits when he does ballroom. It adds so much to the appeal of the dance.
