Most people think Claudia was joking as Jay pulled a face to show character that really wouldn't suit a foxtrot 😉

Oh dear, unless she pulls out a Cherie Lunghi, I can't see this being a good week for them. There's only so many dances viewers can forgive you for, and this Rumba might mean four sub-par dances in a row (quickstep should have broken the curse, but it was littered with errors).

Katie could well surprise us.

I'm not so sure, she's very balletic with a strong core. She should excel at this, I'm more worried about Anton.

But being serious for a moment, far less choreography, it's not frenetic, Anton won't get carried away with the mahvellousness of it all and if he can choreograph a rumba with plenty of actual rumba content, her hips move, she'll be good.

Great if Katie has the rumba then I don't think jay will have it. My hope for a party latin for him stays alive.
With Katie having the rumba, I expect this to be bad/cringeworthy, the judges will slate her and the public will get behind her and Anton in protest which willl leave a higher scorer in a precarious situation and hence in the dance-off

I think it's good for Katie to get the rumba over with while I'm guessing she's still got plenty of support, leaving them to have a lovely slow ballroom for Blackpool. I mean, I'd never wish the rumba on anyone, but presumably they have to do it at some point if they miss out the samba. I can't really remember any Anton rumbas, but hopefully he's on firmer ground than with the fast Latins? And Katie has got tremendous grace in the slower dances and amazing legs.

Katie might have a high-20s to low 30s Rumba in her, as long as she can get her hips to perform the correct motion; acting doesn't seem too weak a point for her if her Tango is anything to go by.

(Just no more Party-Rumba, please).

I am hoping your prediction is a little wide of the mark edy, they are one of my favs.

I'm just praying for a filthy, dirty rumba from Katie and Anton - something to look forward to.

You could well be right.

I like Katie a lot so don't want to jinx her, I'm just a bit nervous!

And yes, let's hope Anton can pull off an elegant, serious Rumba for her. I seriously don't want any grinding or head-in-crotch moves!

I think Katie will be ok with a slower latin. As long as they try and make it fluid and poised, rather than down and dirty.

And they may be thinking that if she still has a goodish public vote they can get the latin out of the way (in fact even give her a 'breakthrough' moment in her 'story') and give her ballroom in the last few weeks, giving her a possible easier run in to the final, and lots of 'Can Anton win after all these years?' publicity for the show.

On another note, I'm really looking forward to Helen's jive (I presume we'll get one from her?)

I think a speedy latin that isn't so reliant on hip movement will be great for her.

Monkseal said she was one of the leads in High School Musical on stage, so she should be really good. My fears for tall girl jive look unfounded

I agree that, of their remaining Latin dances, rumba is the best option. Katie is balletic, as others have said, and she has far better hips than Helen, IMO (and yes, those legs!!!). If Anton concentrates on a simple rumba routine, with lots of basic steps to please old Len(!), then I think they could get a fairly solid score - nothing outstanding, but enough that would see them have a cleanly executed routine and something the audience could go 'well, it was better than her other latins' - and that's all that's needed right now, I suspect!

"Anton doing latin" is just a phrase that makes most people cringe at this point. He's operating from such a low threshold of expectation (and rightly so - his own dance ability in latin is shocking for a pro who's been doing this show for as long as he has) that anything above 'adequate' is cheered to the rooftops! Certainly, better this than Anton doing the samba - the horror! Just, for the love of god, please can he get some help with the choreography? He seems near completely incapable of producing any watchable Latin dance. I get that he's a ballroom specialist but, jeez, there are numerous pro dancers now out of the competition, who are latin experts, and who could surely lend a hand if needed.

And yes, I bet Anton is definitely keeping a potentially spectacular ballroom routine up his sleeve for Blackpool! I'd vote to keep Katie in, just to see that! Probably an impossibly elegant foxtrot, with real old style appeal. He certainly knows what he's doing with stuff like that!

I think that I'm more cringing at the thought of Anton doing the rumba than Katie. She'll do okay but Anton ?

It really doesn't help his reputation when he's made to play a certain role in group dances - as opposed to actually dancing. Last night's jive made me cringe...

Argentine Tango could be a good Blackpool Week dance for Katie; there'd be a fuss over Anton's first scored AT, and if the performance is similar to her Tango she could nail it (leaving Foxtrot, AS, and Waltz for the 3 weeks after, w/ Charleston in the Semis).

If she can nail them, the Final may not be out of reach.
