Just curious as to why people think this is? All 3 seem to be quite similar artists as well (Louisa, Lauren and Che are all "belters")

Why on earth do people think along these (frankly weird) lines?

It's bizzare how well white girls do on this show isn't it? I think one even reached the final once.

Posts like these are exactly why I make threads like this... reveals peoples true colours.

Black Lives DO Matter but that's a completely different debate. You are clearly ignorant to what Black Lives Matter campaign is actually about.

People who are too afraid to even mention the word "race" will always live in ignorance. That's why it's important we don;t shy away from questions like this

I often think this in the 100 metres races at the Olympics.. If only they could mix in some slower white people to keep Weirdos happy

I dont have any issues with the black lives matter movement...I just think sometimes they take it too far, but that is a different discussion...the point is a singing competition is hardly the place to be putting race into the discussion and it should not matter what race the contestants...they are here to find a recording artist...not to check boxes...and isn't 4th impact also a favorite too???... They aren't white...

Nothing to do with race - They are favourites because they just happen to be the strongest vocally.

The 3 clear runaway favourites are all white, 4th Impact are in 4th in the odds ironically.

Gosh, I was just asking a question seeing why people thought this was so Now I know that this forum is clearly too sensitive on subject matters like this...

so the fact that people dont think race is an issue whilst you clearly do implies OTHER people are too sensitive

where is the facepalm emote when you need it ...

I expect Louisa and Che are there because they're the most immediately impressive vocalists out of the finalists. Seann can probably compete technically but he'll be seen as too 'out-there' to encourage short odds.

As for Lauren, I have no absolutely no idea. She was accomplished in the audition rounds but has been entirely forgettable in the lives. Perhaps it's more to do with the Stacey Soloman MK2 persona and people think that will make her popular.

Whatever, I don't think it's about race. It's primarily about how impressive they've been so far.

I have no problem talking about race...but if you want to talk about race...I don't think this is right place...

The 3 favourites are white, so what? This is a non-issue. Would the same question be asked if they were all black? Besides, wasn't Fleur one of the favourites to win last year?

It's not a question of whether people are too sensitive to discuss racism - in this case there is no evidence of it, so the answer is simple, the 3 are simply vocally the best contestants.

Not wanting to give this pathetic thread too much attention.. But let's remember, only about 7% of the UK population are black. The fact that at least 9 of the finalists are non white is fairly over proportionate.

Thank you for answering the question sensibly rather than upright ridiculing me.

I totally get what you're saying and I mostly agree too

OP has a strong point. I think forumers who are wilfully dismissing the racial bias that the voters display on these shows are either ignorant or stubborn. It's pretty plain to see and it's on a lot of levels in the show. When 3 black or mixed contestants were in the B3 last week it was the same posters who were shutting down any discomfort or dissent that people were raising with the issue.

The simplest form is in the way that RnB is never properly appreciated. I mean real RnB and not the bland big note belting and blue eyed soul that we see a lot of. People just don't buy into it properly and it puts many of the ethnic contestants at a disadvantage. "But what about Alex Burke" someone rushes in to say. 1 exception doesn't eliminate the issue.

It goes as far as how many of the black contestants are even seen as joke acts. Look at Reggie N Bollie. Outrageously popular, but many view them as this years novelty. Why? Because of their genre? I bet they don't think of their performances as a novelty.

you completely undermine any point you might have had with your last paragraph, which just ends up making it look like playing the victim card

so-called joke acts in the past , jedward, wagner, stevie ritchie, johnny robinsom, kitty etc etc etc

yeah they were just considered jokes because of their skin colour ...

Che did okay tonight vocally, but he was still suffering from dullness in my opinion.

With Louisa I liked the outfit lol, but that's where it kind of ended for me.

And Lauren I can tell is trying harder than the other two in her performing, but vocally is the weakest so I don't understand at all why she's getting votes.

I wish someone out of Seann, Monica, Mason, Kiera, Anton, or Max could do it as they're just much more to my preference as singers, but it's gonna take a lot for any of them to turn it around and win sadly.

As the legendary Sam Philips once said that 'if I could find a white boy who could sing like a black man I'd make a million dollars,' So much pop music (since Elvis) is black music mediated by white people. So Louisa will do well.

The only thing I find problematic is how many WoC are deemed unlikeable. Alexandra despite being a winner ended up with that as did Misha B, one of the great lost talents of the series. Keira is the latest example.
