They go on about how it should just be the voice etc! That isn't the case anymore performance skills r just as important! Year in year out the acts which r usually most successful don't necessarily have the best voices but they have an individual image, can perform and sing to a reasonable to high standard! The two people who solely won on their voice was Leona Lewis and Sam Bailey

I agree while Kiera wasn't amazing she'd sell better with that cover than reggie and bollie

I am inclined to agree with much the OP has to say. The kind of artists that people seem to enjoy today are much different than they used to be. A lot of them are not my cup of tea tbh, but that is the way it is.

there is alot of good music out there that is selling very well via album sales that dont get anywhere near the singles charts which the OP seems to think is the be all and end all of what is "commercial"

People are going to enjoy a good vocal more than they're going to enjoy someone who could potentially be a star, but doesn't give as good of a vocal. That's just what's going to happen. For most people it's just a tv show and that's it. The effect it'll have on the music industry is irrelevant.

I agree with OP....people like Che would never sell in the real world...but acts Reggie n Bollie, Kiera, Mason, 4th Impact even Alien would sell...

I think completely the opposite. Kiera is a good singer but does not have any charisma and does not connect to the crowd. Reggie n Bollie do - look at the audience reactions to both and you can not compare. The crowd feed off energy and all Kiera has is a nice vocal. In the real world with their own material, Reggie n Bollie would slay her.

well if you ask me... if Louisa or Lauren keep doing ballad... no way I'm buying their music... I got Adele for that...

But Adele,Sam Smith,Ed Sheeran are very similar to Che and they sell well in the real world.

They r unique though in that they have a strong identity and personality due to being terrific song writers

Your post proves it. Image is more important to a lot of pop fans, not something I've ever understood considering I listen to music because I like the song, and couldn't give a toss what anyone else thinks.

OP seems to be confusing people giving their opinions on the quality of acts with their commenting on the commercial potential of those acts. I doubt anyone's under any illusions about the fact that shit sells.
