People caught in benefit trap/don't want to work and benefit fraud
Poverty, debt problems, call centres ringing constantly for payments, bailiffs Teenage gangs Parental child abuse / neglect Historical abuse from someone famous in childhood now adult A couple of happy ones... Lottery win - yes it's been done, but have we seen it develop in a story? See the benefit/drawbacks of a decent win? Or do the winners usually leave after? A love at first sight story with genuine chemistry and they stay together and are happy lol |

Oh c'mon - this is DS - you know the only storylines that DS posters want to see are
Male rape The next big stunt that's gonna kill off *x* amount of characters The next storyline where a good looking previously straight male character is suddenly gonna become *bisexual* and have a *hot* affair with another good looking male character A storyline where someone becomes a "serial" killer and kills of loads of characters. >>>>waits patiently for someone to mention *bestiality*<<<< |

The original Martin already smoked cannabis. He used to smoke it with his best friend Asif. |

Ectopic pregnancy
Testicular cancer Prostate cancer Infertility treatment Schizophrenia Benefit cuts for innocent sick or disabled character who then finds it hard to survive and goes to soup kitchen to get food and a cup of tea then next day goes to food bank with voucher from social worker. Maybe joins campaign against cuts. Diabetes Blindness especially in a character who previously had perfect sight. Possible medical negligence leading to blindness. Could tie in with diabetes storyline. Phil Mitchell's demise. The Cokers can do his funeral. |

Homelessness Arranged Marriages Meningitis It's not really a storyline idea per se but I'd like to see more about things that make people a bit different; goths, vegans, straight edge people, people with significant hobbies, that sort of stuff. I mean not like an episode about someone going windsurfing one day, that doesn't sound especially interesting, but more general mention of things like that would be good and give the characters a bit more variety. Some mention of a character's interests would be good, rather than them largely being pretty generic in their habits. That could also be useful if an actor is away for a couple of weeks or something, the character could go on a snorkelling holiday to Australia to recuperate after whichever trauma has just befallen them. Usually in soaps people's interests and points of difference tend to only be marked in one or two characters, like Linda's fondness of musicals in EE, and they're generally pretty clumsily written and cheesy. I think giving more sense of what the characters like and dislike in general and what they care about (besides faaahmly,) would give us richer, more rounded characters. |

Munchhausen by proxy syndrome was done in Family Affairs with Chrissie Costello. Roy in Family Affairs was briefly homeless during the time he went nuts after his wife and her entire family were killed in a boat explosion.
General Anxiety Disorder was key to several characters in Prisoner (cell block H). In Neighbours I believe Madge won the lottery and stayed in the series. Later Cheryl Stark arrived and was said to have previously won the lottery. Voodoo spells and potions I believe were part of the character Celeste in Days of Our Lives. Didn't Neighbours' Zoe have an Ectopic pregnancy? Neighbours has also done prostate cancer, infertility treatment. In the 1990s Brookside killed off the two children in a family in a car accident; this was done because the scriptwriters wanted to do an IVF storyline. Early 1980s Australian soap The Restless Years had a diabetic character (Charmaine). Blindness was very much a soap cliche in the 1980s. Many US soaps did it. Tia Carrere's character in General Hospital being one example. The Restless Years (Aust soap) had already done it (the blind guy later had his sight restored). Didn't the same thing happen with Lucy in Neighbours? It also occured in later Australian soap E Street with CJ (Adrian Lee). |

A love at first sight story with genuine chemistry and they stay together and are happy lol We've had teenage gangs in EE before. The one which Liam was roped into being a part of and the one that Lola's former Children's Home buddy was in. We kind have had parental abuse in EE (he was a step-father of sorts rather than birth father) with Whitney and her step-mother's partner which was her first storyline when she came in the show. Also back in the 90s in Brookside with the Jordache family, the father abused both his daughters. Also in Brookie there was a family who won on a scratchcard (but I can't remember their name). |

I am another one who would love to see an infertility storyline, a couple having to use IVF especially as people are using IVF more and more these days. |

I don't want to see the majority of the idea's posted in this thread.
think Pink smurfs infertility storyline would be good but you would need a couple who stay together a few years first then go through it and have the aftermath, would be a good long running story. maybe one for Abi&Jay in the future. I would like to see a young couple get together, stay together and not cheat and to see the actual struggles they have, you know money to move in together and then paying bills etc, growing up, trying to start a career, waiting till they are 30 to have kids. more storylines where the default is NOT for the female characters to fall pregnant just because the story teams cannot think what to do with them, you never get 16/17 year olds or older debating whether to have sex or not because they are on their 3or4th partner by then and were knocked up at 13/14 |

a gay couple adopting
It seems gay couples in the land of soaps either never adopt or have had children when they were previously in a heterosexual relationship I would like to see this. You would think a benefit storyline one would of been done by now as the news and many factual television series are obsessed with benefits. But no. |
