The EastEnders' writers allow their principal characters to behave deplorably/immorally/reprehensibly etc. & there's no comeuppance for a very long time, at least. If you're a central or popular character, you'll be alright in the end!

*The Beale House: virtually accessories to murder at this point!
*Phil Mitchell can act out as a low-rent mafioso & the police can't pin a thing on him ... & just where does he magic all his thousands of pounds from anyway? Money-laundering? Drug smuggling?
*Sharon is aggravating, just because she was one of the original cast. She has to be a central figure now!
*Kathy should probably have stayed dead! (Ditto Den Watts!) What kind of show is this now? Like Bobby Ewing in Dallas ...
*Max Branning may be creepy, but he's essentially become a victim of quite a few years' of abuse by now. Still no justice for him, really? Even Christian Dot won't vouch for him.
*Dean Wicks, clearly has some vendetta against the fairer gender or something?

... I'm struggling to hold onto much empathy or pathos with many of the residents of Walford these days. Where's the warmth or a sense of community? No wonder the show is struggling up against Emmerdale!

The character's motivation seems to be to ruin any possibility of happiness for Shabnam. But then they don't even back that up, they try to write her like she could be be the one to sympathise with in this sl.

Strange thing is I suspect in the Elstree writers bubble were expected to be sympathetic and root for Stacey.”

She is pretty much a constant bitch now. The one humanising relationship she had was with Shabnam (when she wasn't chasing after her fella) but that's well and truly gone out the window now as well. She treats Martin like absolute dirt 90% of the time. He may not be a fantastic catch, but neither is she, frankly. She treats him like he should be grateful that she is even giving him the time of day.

It's funny because for a while earlier in this stint it seemed they had repackaged her into some kind of saintly sage, going around dishing out wisdom to all and sundry. But now she is back to the same old, same old, sneaking around with another married man. Lacey shouldn't have bothered returning for this crap.”

Nope still just using everyone at her convenience and looking after number one.”

Excellent posts.

Agreed in full. He was however the best villain in EE history. Larry Lamb was sensational in that role.

Stacey should count herself very lucky that Pauline isn't around to lecture her about stringing Martin along.

Didn't Pat sleep with Pete's brother and allowed him to believe that her second child was his so like Stacey is no angel and neither was Pat having an affair with Frank when he was with her best friend Peggy.

Stacey has shown her true colours once again. She really is one of the most immoral scumbags in the show. As if she wasn't bad enough in her first stint - pursuing her husband's father; killing a man in cold blood "cos he deserved it"; letting Bradley take the blame for Archie's murder - she's now doing what she does best again: ruining several people's lives without any thought for consequences.

And the most annoying thing about Stacey - she is ALWAYS the victim. How I wish Pauline was still around to smack her into the next century

They should have just had her go down for it when she left. The subsequent timing of her return would have removed the need for all that phoney "my bipolar made me do it" nonsense.

The Pat stuff with Pete/Kenny happened before the show was even broadcast so it's hard to judge it fairly although we do know she was a bit of a slapper back then

The Frank affair was not right but completely understandable. He was HER husband first and if Peggy was any sort of a friend she would not have gone there in the first place.

I could have excused Stacey if Max was the father because of their past, but not Kush. It was wrong on so many levels.

I don't understand what Pat has to do with this.

Nothing. It's a diversion tactic. We all know Pat was a slapper. Unlike Stacey she owned her faults and didn't play the victim which is why everyone loved her. If only Pauline was still around to deliver one of her epic bitch slaps to slaggy Stacey's miserable face.

Pauline would be turning in her grave because she wouldn't want Stacey and Martin together. I don't know who she would have hated more - Sonia or Stacey.

One of the reasons I loved Pat was that she always owned up for her mistakes, faced the consequences and moved on from her mistakes. She always tried to learn from her mistakes. It's a shame that the likes of Stacey Slater and Shirley Carter can't do what Pat did in the past.

I would love that so much.

Stacey is long overdue a slap and a plethora of home truths from the likes of Pauline or Pat (God rest their souls). Homewrecking little cow.

We need a new matriarch to dish out this kind of justice! Step forward, Kathy Beale.

Now there's a question

I miss Pat and Pauline so much. They don't make 'em like that anymore

I was just thinking of Kathy! She is Martin's aunt after all. I hope she channels her old mates Pat and Pauline and slaps the shit out of Bungee Knickers Branning

Even though you don't like Stacey do you think she should leave?

Good post.

Obviously Stacey didn't do the cheating on her own and the men are just as responsible, but she is a serial cheat. Max is no better of course, he's absolutely ridiculous, vile and should "keep his legs closed" as it's often suggested female characters do. But as far as we know Ryan and Kush cheated once, they might well never have done it before or do it again. Stacey's the common factor, and she's clearly no problem with getting involved with other people's partners whenever she feels like it. Like Max she's utterly selfish and casually wrecks other people's lives without batting an eyelid, the pulls the "poor me" card. Not that cheating is her only sin of course, but it's one of the major ones. The show desperately needs a Pauline or Pat to knock her down a peg or two. Nasty, spoilt, selfish, thoughtless, entitled, incredibly aggressive and rude tantrumy little witch.

I would love to see Pauline chasing Stacey round the square with her frying pan, then doing a swift about turn when they run into the Vic and Stacey picks up the Queen Vic bust!

I wouldn't worry. Stacey is one of those characters that will never be written out unless the actress decides to leave.
