I don't drink it hardly ever but seen as the weather has been so miserable I quite fancy some. There seems to be loads about these days so wondering which are the better ones. Also are some better with milk and/or sugar?

I find all hot chocolate is made on the assumption that people like to put ten teaspoons of sugar in each mug. The sachet ones in particular tend to be revolting.

Seeing as most of the hot chocolate sold in tins requires hot milk to be added, I can never understand why people don't simply buy cocoa and make it exactly how they like it. That's what I do, but it has to be Rowntrees; I don't know what on earth Cadbury's manage to do to simple cocoa powder, but I find it quite horrible.

A friend of mine told me she heard that hot milk with Nutella stirred in makes a lovely hot chocolate. I haven't tried it yet.

I make it the traditional way by using squares of a good high content of cocoa chocolate, usually 85%, then tried this 100% pure! Never using anything else now!

Just two squares to a mug of milk in a pan, then allow to melt, slowly.

A shot of dark rum makes it all the more unctuous!

In my opinion the best hot chocolate is this -

Whole milk

Nesquik chocolate milk shake mix

Add a couple of teaspoons (based on taste, some like it weaker than others) to the milk and mix well. Then pop into the microwave for desired heat, normally a minute or so.

I don't drink hot chocolate much at home, occasionally I do when it's really cold outside and I'm going into a coffee shop. We used to drink this as a child and it's my personal favourite. I personally think the ones which require milk are better, the flavour is better, creamier and richer

It is, and it would have been better with the name and link of the 100% chocolate! Not sure where my head was yesterday morning, but I couldn't find it all day, disasterous Monday!

The 100 percent chocolate I now use is Hasslachers, they do 100% cocoa flakes too for easier melting, because pure chocolate doesn't melt as easy as you'd think!

Better day today? What was the matter, or was it just the fact Monday hates us all!? LOL

Tried this one first as I used to like nesquik as a kid LOL. It's a nesquik hot chocolate mix though. Was pretty nice and no water needed

Next time Ruby get a flask, make a hot choc before you leave work. In the car get out the rum and marshmellow and sip while stuck in traffic!

I've tried a lot of hot chocolates and never been impressed with any of them.
I've found the best thing is to heat up a cup of milk then stir in a few chunks of your favourite chocolate. My favourite for hot chocolate is Green and Blacks Maya Gold.

I have bought some cocoa and intend on buying some rum! Is Wray and Nephews suitable?

A blast from the past

I've got some choc drops that you whisk into milk apparently, but I haven't tried them yet, and Waitrose sell block drinking chocolate.

What's that Spanish one in the black tin? I don't drink the stuff often but if I was to buy some it would be that.
