Are Caroline and Olly battling it out for worst presenter on prime-time television?

I thought that awful Welsh bloke on US X-Factor was the worst I've ever seen, when that young girl broke down in tears he was like a rabbit in the headlights, but Flack & Murs are just abysmal. Just goes to show how professional Dermot really was.

Good hosts hold the show together. Ant & Dec, like them or loathe them - they are brilliant at what they do, the same with the peerless Ryan Seacrest from America Idol.

And another thing .... both Caroline & Olly insist on calling them Reggie'n'Bowllie which irritates me no end!

The name is Bollie as in Olly!

That new girl doing the Xtra Factor is pretty good. If she'd put on a few more clothes without holes I'd be happy with her doing the main show.

They don't really need to presenters for the Xfactor, Olly could manage perfectly well without that Flack bint!

Agreed, basic command of language and reading are essential for presenting, unfortunately Ollie has neither. Luckily he can earn money from singing and should stick to that.
From a visual point of view, Ollie is much taller than Caroline and dwarfs her so he really ought to be standing slightly behind her and certainly not in front as he was at times. Surprised the director has not picked up on this.

Flack shows no compassion whtsoever when she cheerfully anounces the name of the person who is leaving without even trying to build up any tension then interupts every single conversation with no real interest from her as she reads the autocue and Olly stumbles over too many words. Both are extremely poor and make you realise how Dermot made everything look so easy.

The fact that olly cannot say three and like a child says free

and I fought you was instead of thought

I mean what school did he go to? - we were corrected in primary one if we spoke like that

I hate to be pedantic, but it should be "I thought you were", not "I fought you was".

I wouldn't mention it, but I have friends from the very town Olly grew up in - and they all talk like that!

It made me smile that after Fleur had performed and Olly had talked to her, the show was going to a break you saw Simon in a shot clapping his own hands and mouthing *stay* *stay there* .. meaning stay on stage till the audience had clapped lol

There's obviously a world of difference between presenting the main show and the xtra factor. Dermot made it look so easy and Olly and Caroline were great on xtra. They are abysmal on the main show though

Thanks a lot. Your comment just made me spit my drink out at work.

I think Caroline is better than Olly.

Olly does this thing with his lips, has anyone noticed? Like they're superglued together.

With Tess and Claudia on the other side, this is a battle neither Caroline or Olly can win.

Plus, Caroline's perfectly OK.

I think it's just awkward for them both to be doing it, I think Caroline would be great on her own.

I think the whole show feels very amateurish this year, and with this duo's presenting being a bit iffy it just shows what a poor programme it is. Dermot had a way of handling the sensitive bits with tact(same for Ant and Dec). Caroline and Olly are out of their comfort zone and out of their depth.

Caroline by herself would have been fine, Olly is awkward and annoying and together it just doesn't work.

And you can see Olly clearly reading the prompter which is off putting

I bet he's disappointed that he's on tv but his single is charting less than before.

I'd imagine that presenters looks have a lot to do with everything!

Generally to be in front of a camera, you've got to be well above average in the looks department haven't you? I'd thought that that would be obvious.

Not saying that she isn't attractive, but her and Olly Murs as much as they're undeniably nice people, are Asda to Dermots Harrods Food Hall!

I think they should just go all out and ask Konnie Huq and Khloe Kardashian (who did the second XFUS) to present as well. It couldn't be any more chaotic than what it is now

Dermot had the ability to display humour and also be avuncular with contestants, firm yet playful with judges and had the gravitas to hold the stage , Olly and Caroline were good on Xtra factor , that was their zone but the main show is just not them, it's not their fault we all have our niche and that just isn't theirs.

ITV should never have let Dermot know they would replace him so that he could leave with dignity before being sacked , sometimes you just stick by the old adage "don't mend what aint broke" and the main presenter was not the problem.

Its pretty interesting that they seem to be pretending Olly has always been a presenter and didn't get his start from the X Factor himself.

Caroline was awful on Sunday. If you look at her eyes she was constantly reading the autoque which must have been slightly down left as her eyes were not looking straight at the camera. At least Ollie was looking at the camera when he talked.

Also when she chatted to Celo it was embarassing. Dermot would have had some cheeky quips about his outfit but not Caroline. Boring.

Did you also see there abysmal attempt at "Dermot Dance" on Saturday. I nearly chocked on my popcorn.

They both lack humour and cheekiness which is what Dermot brought to the presentation.
