Che - You Can't Hurry Love
I thought he had a good voice - but how is slowing a classic Motown song down to ballad pace a "reinvention"?
It was dull to listen to, imo.The song is Motown, and always will be. |

I'm not quite following you "The song is Motown and always will be".
Motown was a record label not a genre. It did Soul, R'n'B, Funk and so on The original wasn't particularly that slow either

Where did the OP suggest the original was slow?

Ella Henderson slowed down You're The One That I Want and got eliminated from X Factor.
Che is male so has girls voting for him. That's the difference. |

( ) Slowing it down like that doesnt do it a favour sadly, it came across a bit dirgy

You can't fault him vocally but I worry he'll that get boring. And I agree that was the wrong song to slow down like that, it came across as boring compared to the brilliant original!

I really liked it tbh.
I think it proves what fantastic song writers Holland -= Dozier - Holland were as the sign of a brilliant song is if someone can just stand and it it straight without any bells and whistles. I really don't get the 'Che is boring' - I think he's one of the best in the competition |

I'm a big HDH fan too, and I thought Che's version was ok -ish... tbh, I'm not a huge fan of slowed-down versions of classics. It seems to be a thing nowadays, though...
With regards to the slowed down versions, I blame John Bloody Lewis and their twee adverts.

Song of the night by a country mile. Better than last week where, to be brutally honest , he was really cheesy. I think him singing without all the crap going on in the background so we focus on his voice is the way to go. |

He's the only one to give me goosebumps so far this year so he's fairly comfortably my favourite at the moment. |

seriousloy you are picking at him it was more reinvention than people like 4th impact! he is a person and no matter how closely the stayed to the theme it is about the talent and che is out of this world it is about how amazing he is!!!! how many other artists do you know personal details about and if someone called them boring you would be offended so just love him for the outstanding vocal

No you can't hurry love or give someone charisma. Good voice although we have Sam Smith already and he has a similar vibe, but he is very boring

It will be difficult for him to top that performance for the rest of the series.

Oh I enjoyed him last week too. Yes it was somewhat cheesy with him dressed as a gay bank manager but his vocal was top notch. Plus I love 'Ain't No Mountain' so that's a bonus. It's really refreshing for one of the big voices to do uptempo rather than rehashing the same old showboaty ballads too.
