My thanks to the OP for telling us that info before the episode aired.

Not seen yet. Did it peck her in the head?

It ate her eyes out and then pecked her jugular so that she bled out very slowly.

(Not really).

It feels like the Emperor's New Clothes in the episode thread, so let me say it here. Dumbest companion exit ever. I honestly feel sad for Coleman for having to lie motionless on the Harry Potter set, pretending a bird flew into her tummy, instead of going out with a bang fighting a real Who monster.

You have clearly missed the point of it all. Just being killed by a monster? Lame. This is all part of a larger story.

Agreed. The whole idea of the Raven, the countdown, the business of passing the 'tattoo' to someone else, breaking of contract, inability to 'fix' it - all concocted to kill off a companion whilst allowing a protracted farewell scene; too stupid for words.

Even if so, it doesn't seem to be part of Clara's story. As much as I enjoy Moffat in general, he's terrible with companions' backstories. Amy had no family for an entire series and Rory only got a dad in his last couple of episodes. Now I don't mean that we needed a rundown of Clara's family tree, but to literally kill her off without really revisiting any of her history or adding any depth to her character, and not even - which would be the least I've come to expect from Moffat - callbacks to the crazy time when she entered the Doctor's timeline, simply leaves a lot to be desired. Thoroughly poor effort.

I never really saw Amy or Clara as companions who actually travelled with the doctor because he kept leaving them and coming back to the point where it felt like the companion was leaving every other episode ! Clara in particular it feels like has already had several exits !

Don't buy into it at all, the episode fell flat for me as Moffat has cried wolf so many times, how are we suppose to but into it, I just don't. She'll be back in episode 12 ready to cheapen her already cold ending.

To be fair, the OP did apologise (well, sort of) and hopefully they've learnt to be a little more careful about revealing spoilers in titles or perhaps directing their posts to go into the main Series 9 Spoilers & Information Thread.

Amy had no family at first for a reason.

Rory's raison d'être was Amy, nothing else needed.

We already know Clara's backstory. It's what made her the person she was tonight. Besides just because she's dead, her experiences so far + time travel means her story might not be over just yet. Still 2 more episodes to go.

To be equally fair, I haven't read any of this thread and was just a bit irritated earlier that this thread title was correct and effectively a spoiler whether the OP intended it or not.

I agree though, posters should refrain from posting any information in thread titles regardless of whether they are speculation or not. The same happened last year when someone posted the possibility that Missy was The Master a few days before the next episode aired revealing that very fact.

I came close to avoiding this forum whilst this Series was in progress because of those threads but I don't really want to as I enjoy reading the many threads even if I don't actively participate in many of them. I think most people should be able to come on here and do the same without having their enjoyment spoilt by such thread titles.

I was hoping she would have reprised a memorable quote from her time on the show as her last words something like:

Run you clever boy and don't look back!

Or

I'm the impossible girl and my story is done!

Worst of all because of this cheap ending there is a clip of the doctor and clara from the finale so no its bullshit to make fans buy the death,

Jenna's turning up again. Is 'our' Clara? She was Oswin Oswald (deceased) and 19th century Governess Clara (deceased) before...

I guess the doctor is going to gallifrey to change time to save her.

I thought it was just a chance for them to show off her chest!!!

all the camera angles of the scene seemed to play to her (considerable) "strengths"

Well, her ending didn't leave me cold, and I prefer to reserve judgement on whether or not her apparent ending in this story will be cheapened until I see the episode in which Jenna appears. I will not pre-judge without all the facts.

There are many possible ways for Jenna to re-appear which would not cheapen Clara's apparent death at all.

Pretty sure finale has clara and doctor side by side because of that clip in the trailer.
