All this talk about wanting the actress to return Well it is not going to happen So they have to recast her But im trying to think of an actress they could get that looks and acts like her Also i think it is time to bring the son into the show and probably Vicki as well

I think its time tk bring back orginal michelle and grant have the mark reveal as Michelle dies in sone way since a recast is not popular and the actress doeant want to return and this would be the only way to fully close the door. An off screen death could still lead to a kathy.

Susan Tully retired from acting. She's a director full time now.

What would be the point it wouldn't get any publicity but would if Susan Tully returned it would be front page news, If it was a recast it wouldn't essentially be like a whole new character now and what if Certain Characters she doesn't have the chemistry with like Sharon for example could back fire and be like the way Kim's Sam had no chemistry with Sid Owen as Ricky, I say if Susan Tully cat come back as Michelle Then EastEnders bosses should leave well alone.

I think Michelle is best left in the past as it is.

Michelle is too iconic to recast.

They didn't even get away with Sam (IMO but the fact they reverted to the original says a lot) who isn't as big a character as Michelle. It was different with Mark and Peggy as the originals only appeared in a handful of episodes and it is normal to recast younger characters but Michelle is a big no no. She was a prominent character throughout her entire stint.

As LHolmes said Michelle was a huge part of the first ten years of EastEnders and Sue Tully is Michelle. There's no two ways about it. A recast would not work.

I think they just about got away with recasting Martin. To be honest I never had a problem with recasting Sam, because although Daniella was well-known in the part I'd hardly call her 'iconic', and Kim Medcalf was a much better actress anyway. She really made the role her own.

Why is everyone so bloody obsessed with bringing Michelle back anyway?

No way. Sue Tully IS Michelle and she should never be recast.

Some recasts are successful. Mark Fowler and Sam Mitchell, for example. When Kym Medcalf joined EastEnders, there were a lot of criticism but Kym's Sam was very successful and the EE producers made a mistake bringing back Daneilla Westbrook because Danielle's acting had gone downhill and they ruined Kym's Sam character development. When Sam returned in 2009, she was a bimbo and I preferred strong businesswoman Sam (Kym Medcalf).

In what way is Michelle actually needed on the show anymore? 20 years is a long time to be gone. The show has moved on. This Mark Fowler Junior nonsense is irrelevant. It's not like there's a shortage of Mitchells.

I know. I don't get this forums obsession with Michelle Fowler at all. She hasn't appeared in 20 years so why would she be needed now? And more often than not this forum bangs on about wanting a big character to return only for that to be a colossal flop with people then claiming that Eastenders should be utilising the characters they have properly and looking to the future, not the past. It's a lose-lose situation.

I've noticed this. Self sabotage I call it

It's Michelle's non appearance that has built her up into this mythical creature like the yeti or the Loch Ness monster..

EE should play up to this with random sightings.

Ian: Ere Martin, does that extra in the market, look like 'Chelle to you?

Martin: I dunno but someone's left a load of flowers at the cemetery and a note saying 'Better late than never'

Sharon looking down at the floor: These footprints remind me of 'Chelle's sling backs...

Offscreen a dubious American cockney accent yells "Moooom, why can't we go to the Vic. It should be safe. Mark's dad is in Venezuela observing gangs."

It would be good to see Michelle again, even in a recast. She's friends with Sharon and Ian.
