I would actually be more surprised if Kush's wife genuinely is dead, tbh. That would be a pretty groundbreaking twist. Such is the nature of DTC's EastEnders.

Of course, it all makes sense now. His ex-wife went through a gender reassignment therapy and is now a transgender male. This transgender male needs to warn Stacey about what he / she knows about Kush - the father of the child Stacey is carrying. This transgender male holds the key to the enigma and evil at the bottom of Kush's soul.

I know Safira has never been an onscreen character but it would feel like major overkill if DTC intended her to be alive all along. That's how he set up Nick Cotton's return. Plus he resurrected an EE original this year so I doubt this will happen.
