The double elims have done the show no good whatsover and we have only two live shows and five weeks today it will be all over again

Yeah I think it was better when only 1 act left each week

I'm inclined to agree. I hope they give the double eliminations a rest for a week or two.

Ridiculous that there are only 4 shows until the final.

Even Series 1 had more live shows

I think next week will be a single elim. They two doubles on the. First two weeks and then a final one towards the end in 2010. Think it'll be the same this year

Well they started the live shows 3 weeks to late which is why it has all gone to pot. The sooner this series is over the better though cos this year has been the worst ever.

They dragged out the stages that no one cares about and sacrificed the live shows in the process. Not quite sure what the producers were on this season because there have actually been some great acts but the format has ruined the show.

According to one news story it would be double eliminations every week, not sure how they do that and still have anyone left for the final, Is the Final on 5th Dec this year ? if so that's earlier than usual , does ITV have some big shows planned for the weeks running up to Christmas or something ?

I am never one to slate a show when it has only just begun but this year with its return of 6 six challenge and then the dodgy Judges houses mish mash then begging for a place. After that to me it is fast becoming the worst series yet and to be honest no one exciting in the line up at least other years there was one you thought "yes they are good" but this year there isn't , well to me anyway.

There was the small matter of a Rugby World Cup and the shows started 3 weeks late?

I agree. The live shows started really late this year hence the need for double eliminations in the first two live shows. Doesn't give you enough time to get to know the acts. The judges houses used to be done in one weekend. This show has gone to pot!

I think we're in for double eliminations for at least the next 2 weeks so that it'll go something like this:

Week 1 - 2 acts go, 11 remaining
Week 2 - 2 acts go, 9 remaining
Week 3 - 2 acts go, 7 remaining
Week 4 - 2 acts go, 5 remaining
Week 5 - 1 act goes, 4 remaining
Week 6: Semi Final - 1 act goes, 3 remain
Week 7: Final

They could always swap them around and have only 1 go in Week 4 then 2 in Week 5 or 6 maybe?

i think there was a suggestion they might go into the final with 4 acts so that would remove the need for one double elimination so only more would be needed

it might come down to the voting figures , if there are still two acts well adrift of the others then another double gets rid of the deadwood straight away, i think cowell said something to that effect as well.

This was all done because of the rugby though wasn't it, I didn't think they had much choice unless they wanted to do the live shows with the performances and results all on a Sunday.

Because Halloween is usually the 3/4 Live Show, is it not? which is why they've had to double up for the past 2 weeks

Double eliminations have been very bad for the show. It feels like contestants are being eliminated long before they should have been. They aren't getting the 'journey' they should have done.

I'm sure the rugby did play its part but there was absolutely no need for Bootcamp, Six Chair challenge and Judges Houses to be as long as it was. The show used to go straight from Bootcamp to Judges Houses and that was a much better format.

Possibly but they are recorded so they could show them on a Sunday but it was impossible for them to start the lives weeks earlier on a Saturday because of what others have said the rugby World Cup . It has zero to do with the show or its producers just the rugby so they had no choice . Besides I like the fact the judges can't keep whoever is last even if it's one of their favourites . How many times has everyone moaned about an act being saved about 3 or 4 times and it starts to look a bit ridiculous . Never complain when a bit of cowells manipulation is taken away from him and can't get fairer than who's last goes

I am hating the double eliminations. Feel like we are having to say goodbye to the contestants way too soon. One thing I always enjoy about the show is watching them grow and they are not having the chance. Feel like they are just being booted of as soon as possible.

The whole thing this year has been a complete disaster IMO , so many things done wrong compared to previous years.
