Anyone tried oven-baking chicken wings without adding any flavourings? Does it taste alright? What temperature do I set the oven to and how long do I leave it in the oven for before it's fully cooked?

They will taste as good as the quality of the chicken.
If you want more flavour then either buy or mixup a seasoning rub to sprinkle over when cooked or a sauce to toss them in. |

you get 2 every time you roast a chicken.
probably better without the artificial flavourings. |

If you buy a box of bog standard chicken wings from a supermarket then they're not going to be the greatest quality and will be decidedly bland, especially with no seasoning or marinade. You at least should have a spinkle of salt or brine them first. I can't recall ever seeing boxes of chicken wings that are free range/organic/corn fed. The better quality chicken will give you better flavour and texture but you'd probably have to go to a butcher or farm shop and it'll be more expensive. Even then i'd be adding a little salt. I'd still consider that as plain. |

Agree with the other comments about the quality of chicken, wings are so cheap even from a butcher thats free range organic.
Crushed rock or sea salt and fresh ground black pepper is an old favourite, and not much can go wrong, but don't forget to rub a bit of olive oil over them before sprinkling the salt and pepper on, this makes them nice and crispy along with the salt Probably gas mark 5-6, middle of your oven for around 25mins-35mins, all depending on how many you have (I tend not to time cooking, only baking, so this is just a guide, keep checking and more importantly smelling, the smell is a fab guide as to when food is cooked, always use eyes, nose and ears when cooking) But preheat your oven while your seasoning you chicken. You could always whisk up a fresh piri piri sauce to pour over if you have a food processor, so simple, and takes a minute. |
