Where did you hear that? Micro transactions aren't in single player so that shouldn't impact a decision on which to get. 2 is certainly the best, I love 3 also, 1 is fun but too much of a shooting gallery, i'm doing a crushing run of 1 right now and it is seriously hard for me, but then I suck at shooting so what can you do lol.

If I remember right, Thomas had a similar opinion of the reboot as me, it was a really good game with some story/character issues. Plus the lack of tombs was a real let down for me. This new game looks to be everything I wanted in the last one. I so wish I could play it, but I don't have an Xbox, and I can't buy one just for 1 game that will come out on PS4 next year anyway. If I could I would definitely get it though.

The exclusivity deal seems weirder now than ever, having it release on the same day as Fallout and on a system that is being outsold 2:1 is just bizarre. I am really interested in the sales of this, because it looks like they have just buried it. Such a shame for it.
I just heard, I actually can't remember... It may have been my son that told me....I will still get it though as it will be a great game. No need to feel sorry for ROTTR on the Xbox just because it is being outsold by the PS4?? Who actually cares....The PS4 was built at a price because Sony are skint and the XB1 must have had the worst launch in history... But that was two years ago.... All the people I work with seem to be on XBox as do my youngest sons classmates ... Damm Minecraft .... But my older son has Sony stamped on his forehead... And he told me about the Microtransactions...

You wouldn't be buying an XB1 for one game, you would be buying it because it's (now) a great system and every bit as good as the PS4...

And real gamers don't really care about miniscule resolution arguments ..

Yeah only thing I'm jealous of you all on xb1. I need to wait for ps4 rather than buy for 360.

Apparently the 360 version is decent ... But you are probably right hanging on for the PS4 version....

Or you could play it on 360 then get it again in 12 months time on ps4. Will look even better then having played on 360. Not gonna look much different between one and ps4.

I've got a question: I think it's fair to say that by the time RotTR is out on ps4, the X1 version will be discounted, possibly with a GoTY edition at current price.

If this is the case, how much would you pay for the ps4 version ?

Another way to put it: how much do you think is reasonable ?

I'd pay no way near that for a game that's a year old. Do crystal dynamics not care about the sales of this game? Seems like they really shot themselves in the foot with the timing of the release and the timed exclusive.

It might seem to you that Crystal Dynamics shot themselves in the foot but that all depends on how big of a bag of cash Microsoft left on their doorstep.

A million quid - Yeah CD made a big mistake.

A hundred million - I'm sure CD are fine with the current sales.

We have no idea about the negotiations that happened so I don't think we can say if it was a mistake or not.

Something came out about the in game currency at Paris games week I think. They have since clarified, and it's just for multi player and isn't required, you can earn everything by playing the game. I'm not a big multiplayer person but I think that it is pretty normal to do that now.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I have some issue with the Xbox, resolution and all that doesn't really interest me. And they have worked hard to turn things around after launch, I have no problem with the system. I just don't particularly wan't to buy one, the Xbox exclusives aren't really my thing. The only one I really want is Tomb Raider, and that will come out on PS4 anyway.

When I said it was a shame for Tomb Raider, I'm talking pure numbers. The potential audience is smaller, and they released it on the same day as Fallout, that is what puzzles me. Why pay for exclusive rights and shove it out on that day? Square Enix were disappointed with the sales of the last one, so if the new one doesn't do well that could impact future games. To the point that there might not be one, that's why people care.

That is my only concern about it really, the timing is just weird. I'm interested to see the sales, if it sells well then i'm happy.

It sold less than 58k copies in the UK last week. .

By comparison, the last game (2013) sold 183k.

Being Xbox only and going up against Fallout hasn't done it any favours.

I hope they got a good deal with MS - I'd hate to see the series die away again due to poor sales.

You'll never know for sure, but I'd love to know how much coin MS threw at it.

When you look at Activision buying Candy Crush for about $4 billion dollars...

£20 or under for me, the same price I would be looking to pay had it released on both platforms this year.

I don't know if development time would have allow it but this game really should have been release September before the Autumn rush of games. Its the type of game which would do well in the post summer drought, hitting before all the big hitters arrive. It could have had another sales run a few month later dropping the price to £20-25 before Xmas.

I'm really in two minds: firstly I'm thinking of buying it for my X1 on Black Friday, if there's a sale, or alternatively, purchasing from the Singapore Xbox store, where I can get RotTR and Halo 5 for around £65 in total. Or actually from the Singapore store on Black Friday

On the other hand, I'm thinking of waiting until the ps4 version comes out...

Maybe it ill pick up, i'm still hoping.

MS must have paid a lot to offset this, it's actually more puzzling on their end imo. What did MS really get out of it? The way they avoided questions about the exclusivity deal was just annoying. It didn't exactly get a positive reaction.

I'd get it for Xbox if you have time to play it. I forgot about black Friday, I still can't really accept it's a thing in the UK. I wonder if Until Dawn will finally get a price drop, it's still stubbornly £45 everywhere.

I am rather naively hoping to pick this and AC:Syndicate for around £50 in total on Black Friday.

The PR around the reveal was ludicrous. I don't think that will have affected sales, but it did make MS look like dicks again after they'd worked so hard to drag their image back out of the gutter.

As for what MS got out of it, I think they were spooked by Uncharted 4 (which was originally slated for 2015) and wanted an adventuring exclusive of their own to put up against it. As it turns out the needn't have bothered. It has strengthened their Christmas line-up, but it seem that not many people are bothered so far. Perhaps the Xbox One Tomb Raider bundle will keep the game in the charts over the coming weeks.

People talk like MS are the only ones that do this, but Sony does the same thing. It's just business and trying to get more people buy their consoles.

I'm suprised it's sold 58k to be honest, only one other person on my friends list is playing it.... ok that's not very accurate but still a poor showing. Not suprised though to see lots playing Fallout 4. I think MS must have paid a lot for this exclusive, crystal dynamics obviously don't give a monkey about sales, putting it up against fallout.

The worry here though is that the ip may suffer as a result, and in this case (judging by reviews and comments) that would not be fair.
